The Cardinals have the edge in tonight’s opener. Chris Bassitt has struggled away from home, posting a 7.28 ERA and 1.96 WHIP, and his career ERA against St. Louis sits at 6.92. Meanwhile, Matthew Liberatore has been in strong form with 15 strikeouts, one walk and a 0.90 WHIP in August. Baltimore has also struggled against left-handed starters and is just 15-21 (-8.8) against NL opponents.
