SEED running..some write up in Forbes Asia..stock really cooking.
Jeff, I didnt see why BOOM was down today, but a nice move for sure over the last little while.
spottie, I would have to lean to LUV on the airlines..smart group. I used to really like JBLU but they didnt hedge fuel prices and it killed them literally.

I'm up huge on Drys. The thing is this baby has gone up so far so fast. But I still think this baby sails past 130. Especially if the market has a nice run. Tough call as to when to sell this stock.

Which did you get back into? I know you sold the Decembers you had..but what are you in now?
I was reading some Barons piece that said funds are chasing DRYS because of the momentum, especially on the options side..makes me wonder when the chair game will end.
What is stupid is again the trade was never against me after the second day and I just didnt let a big winner run..and I paid for it huge. Took the risk and didnt let it run.
I am smarter than fighting the tape but part of me is really tempted to get some Oct puts, some 105's or 110's, but that would be speculative stupidity..stock hasnt broken and it is too early.
I think this price is too far too fast though..but nice job to everyone who got on the train..and didnt get off too early.

I bought December 100's when the stock was about 96. Made some nice doe. Hope she runs a bit more. Earnings are coming up in a few weeks. Might keep running ahead of earnings.

darn it i thought u would say luv and for the most part for good reason. the only thing i dislike about them is the stock goes no-where. i guess that is why all the others are headed or are down. humm. i like FRNT short term for a momentum bounce. get 10 % or so and hit the showers. not in it longer term, unless the momentum never quits and thanks for your time
Nothing is ever in the bank until it is in the bank

The worst experience I had this week so far was knowing I was going to buy STV at 39, and watching it go from 39-49 before the opening bell (started at 9, and ended at @9:28)...nothing like watching someone else cash in big before an order could be had.
C'est la vie.The DRYs thing, yup, leaving money on the table is a form of misery, but it never hits me as hard as actually losing money. Now, what stock having anything to do with China can we pick to make some quick $$ before th end of the week??? What a wild run...

One very interesting thing..with options expiry next week, the pricing is CHEAP...if they rock this boat all over the place, there is definately money to be made.
BIDU down 30 plus...wow.
I am INCLINED to try and get puts on rallies tomorrow..but wont do anything drastic..

Might be a turning point here fellas..

I continue to see the following:oil rising, gold/precious metals/base metals rising, dollar falling, and credit card use will finance what weak Christmas we may have in the US. While printing more dollars may prop up an old market, it is not good for buying essentials like oil.
Action will remain, as it has been, in Asia. (This idea that Baidu is a main market turner is odd to me, almost as funny as Al Gore getting a Nobel Peavce Prize. I did not think the Nobel Committee could go lower than kissinger, but I was wrong!)
And though I try to be on the side of WBuffett, I think PTR continues heading north. If I am wrong, BRKB will help cushion the blow.

I am going against another guru, Jim Rogers, but only temporarily. He thinks the USD will rally, but he adds:
"I implore everyone who reads you to open a
foreign bank account or get their money out of the U.S. dollar,"
Rogers, the investment guru and noted dollar bear, said in an interview
this week. "But you might want to wait until after the rally."
On the positive side, a Canadian account may allow em to place bets with my old fave, Pinnacle.

I imagine Rogers is saying a short term move in the buck, not longer term..and I imagine he is right..a dead cat bounce should happen at some point. Also keep in mind that Bush is in the last year coming up and that will help the dollar.
Anyone see KKD? Are they pricing this thing for BK or what?
Oh and I hope that Gore DOES run for prez...I would vote for him.

Rogers specifically says that his anticipated dollar bump up will be ephemeral, hence the sage advice of getting out of the dollar and into foreign banks accounts...
Hey, Bore could not be any worse than the current crop of cretins running...except he actually believes he understands climatology, whereas the others know they know as much as their speech writers tell them...:)

yeah I really dont think the US alone can stop global warming, even if we were a perfect green country there are too many other countries who have little to no standards that more than offset our efforts.
I agree that Gore is no worse than the others running and in fact he seems to be able to deal with both parties and seems to have a middle approach which could win this election if he wanted to run.
I am having a tough time wanting to leg into an options position for October since next week is expiry. They will write down premiums over the weekend and I dont see the value at the things I am looking at.
Claycourt..you are right, if Gore were to win, solar would be a monster as would stem cell stocks. If he were to throw his hat in the ring then you would go out and buy those names..

Yeah, WSC, if he enters the race, I'm basically going to get long alternative energy like there's no tomorrow.......unless it is obvious that he has no shot to win. Right now, ANYONE has a shot to win.
Vermeer-
Jimmy Rogers is smart, but his mantra hasn't changed. He's been bearish the US stock market since I can remember. He's been bullish commodities since I can remember. He's the one who is always quoted when people say, "the central bank always gets it wrong." He ALWAYS predicts a short-term rally after huge sell-offs, cause "there always is a rally."
Smart, funny, but his deal is always the same, so he's no more than just comic relief to me.
Cheers

If Jimmy Rogers were/is a sports gambler, I can guarantee that all he would do would be to fade the public on anything and everything......and he'd be funny talking about it.

Global warming and cooling has gone on throughout geologic history, long before humans entered the picture. The film for which he won an Oscar was loaded with factual errors, and gross overstatements.Climate fluctuation (and its causes) are not so simple...it would be great if it were however.
No matter who wins, China will continue to rely on coal and petroleum, as well as nuclear power (.It is totally ironic that some so called environmentalists think nuclear power preferable to coal:a complete absurdity. They seem to think people know what to do with nuclear waste, and we (the world, not just the US) have no clue about how to render it safe.
Carbon offsets themselves are a joke, but they make people who continue waste petroleum feel good about themselves. Ethanol is a complete boondoggle, essentially energy neutral, but an entrenched pork barrel.
I will get off the soapbox now!! I agree regarding solar stocks and stem cell research stocks should any Democratic candidate be elected. I would also suspect serious stagflation, higher taxes, and higher commodity prices will be in the cards.
