There are a lot of positive people and events in our communities but you wouldn't know about it cause its never reported nationally unless its something negative on the news. I know this won't please you or answer your questions, but this is my opinion and my opinion only.

It's great that any community can celebrate thier acheivements, large and small.
Problems tho, should also be discussed. Five years ago when Bill Cosby tried to open a discussion within the black community about the crime, the code of silence when it comes to thier own criminals (re the rappers damning of "snitching"), the contempt for education . . .. he was shouted down for "putting our dirty laundry out in public." But where else could it be discussed.
Whites don't avoid heavily black areas because they hate blacks. They avoid them because they don't want to become crime victims.
And even those whites who oppose "welfare" should come to realze that govt funds should go first and foremost to American blacks, rather than recent immigrants, legal and illegal. The immigrants came willingly, the blacks (their ancestors,that is) quite unwillingly.

WOULD YOU CONSIDER ME A RACIST FOR STARTING A "WHITE" COLLEGE?
Please give me your answer, a reason, and what race you are.
Im doing this cuz Ive been sick and tired of the reverse racism in this country and after hearing "black leaders" try and make the Oregon?/Boise St thing a "race" thing and the seeing the announcers on TV proudly talk about a "black" college I think enough is enough.

Look here. I will be the first black person to admit that our problems lie solely whithin ourselves. We have no excuses for not succeeding in this day and time. The only thing that could hold black people back now is themselves. But I hope you don't think for one minute that the playing fields are equal. We as a people have been set back by generations. And now that were catching up people like you don't like it. Like the topic of reverse discrimination. I agree about that white qualified applicants are being passed over to fill a black quota, and that's so wrong. The best man should get the job. My only argument to that is now you know how it feels to be discriminated against because the color of your skin. Which people of color and yes, white women have had to deal with until recent times.

They are predominantly white only because they have standards they are forced to uphold in order to retain their standing as the nation's most prestigious schools. The rare African-American who can meet these admissions standards actually has a far better chance of getting in than an equally qualified white student. Sad, but true.
I love ChanceP's idea of a white-only university but it could never become a reality in these politically correct, affirmative action, racially hyper-sensitive times. Remember, nobody in a lesser category, whether they be lesser in numbers or ability ... TRULY wants equality.

Never really mattered much to me, the color of one's skin doesn't make much difference, i have met good and bad in all shades and walks of life. Honestly, being poor, i would be bothered at times of all the 'help' that these minorities recieved, especially the grants to colleges that were only available to minorities, thought that kinda sucked at the time. It only drove me to work harder FOR MYSELF, and for that i'm thankful. Also appreciated the experience of meating the PR girls
