Which state has it the worst during Recession?

I'm curious what your opinions are.
I as a college student honestly don't pay attention to CNN and 
to what is really going on in America unless it catches my attention.

What are your thoughts and opinions and information about America during this time of recession.

I'd like to go into deep discussion because i know "covers" has some of the Old Guard on here and know a thing or two...

Thanks for any info

PS i just saw the "is the recession over thread" and wanted to start my own to get more info on what is going on in other states other than CA

Nevada and it is not even close.

Michigan, ohio also hurting but they were not in great shape before the recession.  Nevada has been CRUSHED of late.

Can't speak for any of the other disaster states, but NJ is travesty to live.  As much as I love it here for many reasons, only my family, friends, and a job I would be retarded to ditch are keeping me from peeling out of here.

Nevada,ohio and michagan there is no doubt .Ohio and Michagan lost thousands of good paying manufactering jobs and Nevada as said here just got crushed.

in reality all but 5 states are facing the threat of bankruptcy  and cities,town, villages of all sizes have been crushed to.

Some will say the recession is over thats BULL SHIT it will take years to get back to the employment levels.

Why?   If you buy a home you get a good deal but isn't the job market a mess?  Retirees maybe but if you do not have a job lined up nevada may be real tough right now.

Its the contrarian approach. Get in there now then when jobs start coming back you will have the pick of the litter. If jobs were booming there everyone would be moving in. Get in there. Get a job. Get a house for dirt cheap then in 5 years you will be looking real good there once everything picks back up.

This article from 2 weeks ago says some housing markets will recover in three years. They project vegas will be back in 2032. Seems like a long wait

they are the only state paying out contractors in IOUs

also, no business will move there b/c regulations are out of control. your gas prices are insane

i should mention Illinois

at least in NJ, our state as admitted we are broke and our governor is trying to do something about it. in Cali, Ill, and Mich they are just kicking the can...even Cuomo in NY is slashing spending

Michigan definately #1.....although funny no one mentions Florida much, but 22% of houses in the entire State are VACANT right now.  Unemployment over 12% in Orlando, and roughly 60% of every home that exists in Orlando is "under water" of course meaning the home is worth less that what the buyer actually owes on it....that includes Owner Occupied and 2nd Home, Vacation Home, etc. Crazy stuff!
