What to do in Jacksonville?
Jacksonville Landing is VERY over rated! It SUCKS! I went to Jacksonville for Labor Day weekend, and ate at Benny's at Jacksonville Landing, and it was probally the worst food I'd ever eaten. The mall inside is pretty ghetto, but there is a Ruth Chris on the other side of the water, and you can take a water taxi to it, also there is a water fountian on that side of the river, and its very neat at night.

So many comments about Jacksonville being a "white trash hillbilly hellhole" yet 31 % of the city's population is black, literally twice the percentage of the entire state. Not trying to cause a racial rift here, but just doling out the facts.
I live south of Jacksonville, and will be the first to admit, there isn't much up there that interests me. It's kind of a haphazardly laid out city with no real definition of a downtown. Visitors to northeast Florida will actually find a much more vibrant atmosphere in a place like St. Augustine, which is an underrated jewel of the state. Southern cities in general are quite disappointing compared to their northern counterparts.
