I am all about the dips and finger foods - most have been mentioned above but my favorite is my wife's jalepeno corn dip - sounds and looks skeptical but everyone who tries it loves it...best thing is it is idiot proof to make:
One bag of frozen corn (not sweet corn)
One block of cream cheese
One heaping scoop of butter (margarine)
Add jalepenos to your liking (the hotter the better - i use fresh for better results).
Bake at 350 until everything melts - stir and serve with chips (my favorite is fritos scoops).
Enjoy - we get asked everytime we make it what the recipe is. We have it every sunday during football season!

I'm doing a bushel of local oysters (murrells inlet selects) and smoking wings. serve with garlic habenero wing sauce and coctail and saltines for the oysters.

the typical routine in the past 5-10 years at my friends place is based around a few core dishes...
I make a baked spicy shrimp... buy 3-4 pounds and that should last us the day...
he makes some type of dry rub thing that takes all day... beef brisket has been on the menu past couple years...
korean style spicy chicken or kalbi...
pigs in a blanket with little smokies
his family recipe potato salad
his wife does the whole fruit,vegi,crackers, cheese, dip etc...
then people bring other things...
usually about 12-18 people... and these weird sub groups...
wine drinkers who watch the commercials (women)
beer drinkers that are into the game (causal fan)
weed smokers/beer drinkers that dont watch all the commercials or half time (trying to get faded)
and then gamblers that watch insignificant things like coin toss and timing national anthem... usually falling also into the second and third category (completing all the legs of the parlay degenerates)
