ATLANTA (AP) -- Police in Atlanta say a man was defending himself when he shot and killed a suspected robber on Christmas Eve.Atlanta police spokeswoman Kim Jones says the attempted robbery happened Monday night on Jackson Street in southeast Atlanta.Jones said investigators found that two men tried to rob a person, and the intended victim pulled his own gun to defend himself and shot one of the suspects.Police tell The Atlanta Journal-Constitution (https://bit.ly/ZA2h7N) that the suspect who survived, a 21-year-old man, was taken into custody and is facing charges including armed robbery. Police said the dead man's name was not being released until relatives could be notified.
The reality of this article is that if 2 people were on public property that the owner has never known, or never saw, the owner can shoot them for no reason and then claim that they were robbers who tried to steal and then also claim that his life was on the line/threatened. If 2 people were playing baseball in the streets and somehow the ball got into someone else's private property, shoot that mutha'guy if he's on your property trying to get the ball but hope the body does not fall back on the sidewalk.
I've got my scenarios for what might have really happened in this article but also for any other happening out there that might have been similiar to this one but the fact that this happened in atlanta is very interesting to me. I don't really know what the culture is like there in atlanta but i feel that there might be a subconscious race war that the blacks and whites would not like people to know about. If any of you are familiar with the howard stern show, daniel carver who is a group leader lives in georgia, in fact he lives in a county called "White County" where there's nothing but white people there yet atlanta as far as anyone knows has a very high concentration of black people. Could it be possible that race had anything to do with this article?
This plain looking short article to me is a little bizarre but i have no proof of anything, just pick your poison, we're in overtime in a college football game here, you wanna play offense or defense?

1. There’s a big difference between thinking someone deserves to die for stealing and not wanting to put one’s life and that of his family in the hands of a violent criminal and just hope everything turns out ok.
Some people would rather stick their head in the sand and just hope the criminal won’t hurt them. Others would rather not take that chance.
2. It speaks to your “head in the sand” mentality when it comes to danger.
3. Every empire falls. Although I doubt any of us will be around to see it. When you ask a question and then immediately follow it with “don’t even answer that” you might as well be saying “I just wanted to make a statement, but can’t argue about it intelligently so please don’t make me.” It’s probably just best to say nothing in that case.
4. You seem perfectly content putting your family’s lives in the hands of violent criminals and that’s your prerogative. However, many others aren’t as “devil may care” when it comes to their family’s safety.
5. And yet you keep doing it.
6. The only time I really point out someone’s grammatical mistakes is when they make one in the same sentence they insult someone else’s intelligence.
Merry (late) Christmas to you as well.

If being #1 means you [ need, choose or want,] to be armed all the time in every day life and looking over your shoulder worrying about the people around you then........ I'll pass.
I can't remember once in my life where I thought to myself " I wish I had a gun right now "
and I guess that's because of where I live and where I've been.
I used to go to the U.S. quite often but now it's just a 1,700 mile border to Mexico to me. ![]()
But that's just me. ![]()
2 Serious questions........
Are you restricted from going to the beach or a swimming pool because you don't want to get your guns wet in doing so?
Can you tell us about the time that you DID have to pull your gun out?....That's gotta be a great story. ![]()

There is no offense or defense as far as I'm concerned. Just a fact or two.
Too many senseless massacres in the U.S. by their own citizens at an alarming rate which is not happening in any other non-third world country to my knowledge. And anyone trying to sweep it under the carpet by saying in so many words " That's not so bad considering we have 300,000,000 guns owned by 300,000,000 people " is not seeing the big picture.
Seems like every week there is a new thread about another shooting rampage in the U.S. yet the right to bare arms seems more important than the lives of innocent people.
What's so great about being in the "most powerful country in the world" if you need to be armed wherever you go to feel a little more safe?
Like I stated.....I've never been in a situation where I wished I had a gun, and I prefer that to what looks like a necessity for survival.![]()
Spin Doctors and the uneducated can say what they like.....Overall Canada is one of the greatest places on earth. ![]()

I never said I’m armed all the time, looking over my shoulder, and worrying about the people around me.
I’m very disappointed to hear you no longer come to America. Hopefully we can somehow overcome your absence.
As for your “serious questions”:
1. I don’t carry when I go to the beach and I have a pool in my backyard.
2. No.

You compare America’s gun violence to other counties yet you dismiss the fact that America has over 315 million citizens and over 300 million guns.
Show me one other country that has numbers even close to that.
You bi+ch and moan about the people that carry guns when “every week there is a new thread about another shooting rampage in the US.”
This is basically your logic in a nutshell:
“We must prevent people from carrying guns because a lunatic goes on a shooting rampage every week and anyone who would carry a gun out of fear of such a lunatic is paranoid.”
Brilliant. ![]()

Wow, really? Coldsnap appears to be from Canada? What could have possibly led you to that conclusion? Was it the fact that he has “Canada” listed for his location?
And no shi+ he isn’t agreeing with me.
1. “I wouldn't hope a criminal wouldn't hurt me.”
So you would hope a criminal would hurt you? Normally that might seem odd, but coming from you that sounds about right. Keep doing what you’re doing and maybe one day you’ll get your wish.
2. Saying you want criminals to hurt you goes WAY beyond just having your head in the sand. And if not having a “devil may care” attitude when it comes to the safety of my family and me means I have a “peacock mentality” then I guess I do.
3. So you want to be able to post negative comments about other people and their countries without them responding to you? Lots of luck.
They might be nice places to live for some people, but Sweden has less than 10 million people and Norway has less than 5 million people. It’s not even comparable.
4. I think you’re putting your family in danger with your “devil may care” attitude. Hell you even said you hope criminals hurt you. I hope that doesn’t mean you want criminals to hurt your family as well.
And I have no doubt someone like you would be more likely to shoot a family member over a criminal.
5. Multiple posts in the past 24 hours. I guess more than “once in a blue moon.”
6. Yes and those people who always do that are a$$holes.

It's not happening at an alarming rate. People die at a fraction of a percent from gun-related homicides here. Drug-related deaths are almost triple that of gun-related homicides. Alcohol-related deaths double.
Seems like every week there is a new thread about another shooting rampage in the U.S. yet the right to bare arms seems more important than the lives of innocent people.
Our media is the cause of this. It goes unreported in many other countries. That's the price we pay for all eyes being on us.
What's so great about being in the "most powerful country in the world" if you need to be armed wherever you go to feel a little more safe?
The people who carry a gun everywhere they go in this country are the extreme minority. However, the need for citizens to be able to arm themselves is what this very country was founded on.
What works for our country and what works for yours are extremely different. For christ sakes your head of state is still the Queen of England. We didn't stand back and take the oppresive rule from England like you jolly folks did. We fought for our freedom and will do the same if needed again.

It's definitely not a necessity for survival on an everyday basis. I have never felt the need to carry a gun anywhere I have ever gone. I for one believe they draw negative attention to yourself that is not needed in any circumstance.

What makes Canada so great? All I hear from you jolly folks is what makes it great when you compare it to America. Compare it to other places with everything you're comparing to us.
I'm in no way saying Canada is a bad place. I would just like to see you in the role of being a "spin doctor" when you're actually comparing yourself against countries that are comparable to you. Comparing Canada to the United States is comparing Apples to Oranges.
There is no offense or defense as far as I'm concerned. Just a fact or two.

What works for our country and what works for yours are extremely different. For christ sakes your head of state is still the Queen of England. We didn't stand back and take the oppresive rule from England like you jolly folks did. We fought for our freedom and will do the same if needed again.
Totally agree.
Like I stated.....I've never been in a situation where I wished I had a gun, and I prefer that to what looks like a necessity for survival.![]()
It's definitely not a necessity for survival on an everyday basis. I have never felt the need to carry a gun anywhere I have ever gone. I for one believe they draw negative attention to yourself that is not needed in any circumstance.
Totally agree.
Spin Doctors and the uneducated can say what they like.....Overall Canada is one of the greatest places on earth. ![]()
I can only speak for myself and there are numerous reasons but as far as the subject at hand goes.....I live in a country where I don't feel the need to buy a gun to protect myself from my surroundings. I don't turn on the news wondering if there was a killing spree in my or a loved ones area. There is not one thing that I need or want, that I don't have living in Canada including freedom and piece of mind that life is good where I am........I'm not saying Canada is 100 % Heaven,,,,but it sure aint Hell. ![]()
I'm sure if I lived in the U.S. I would do a 180 on my thinking but.....that's not gonna happen.
It's not happening at an alarming rate. People die at a fraction of a percent from gun-related homicides here. Drug-related deaths are almost triple that of gun-related homicides. Alcohol-related deaths double.
At what point do you think it just might be? Two or three more this month?....The rest of your statement falls under your apples/oranges theory.
Seems like every week there is a new thread about another shooting rampage in the U.S. yet the right to bare arms seems more important than the lives of innocent people.
Our media is the cause of this. It goes unreported in many other countries. That's the price we pay for all eyes being on us.
Would you rather they hid shooting sprees from the public?
