During pregnancy, folate is important to reduce the risks of birth defects. A doctor in the field of behavioral child neurologist who studied the drug and autism for two decades said that the drug is not a cure but he does prescribe it to autism patients.

Problem is that US has the most unaffordable healthcare in the world with millions of Americans under insured. Obamacare is better than the old system but other countries have better universal systems with the rich subsidizing the poor. Universal system can only exist if some people pay more so that others pay less. Better to fund system by income tax instead of mandatory buying of insurance with Obamacare subsidies every year. Unfortunately, US is limited to Obamacare the most politically feasible.
