Read none of the 24 posts before this.

I don't smoke weed, but it should be legalized. I think it already is in 18 states....

People have read me say that 2 of my Docs want me to smake it. One has a wife who is a sitting judge in Tampa.


No one robs convenient stores after smoking a few bowls. The same can't be said for guys that drink a 12 pack.

WOW...i have had experience with just about everything on this list...except steroids and meth...I had a full college career...But oxycontin and vicodin really messed me up for awhile.

Now I am just venting since I have a forum.  If this helps one person, it is enough.

I had 2 bad disks in my back.  Very painful and I put off surgery as long as possible.  During the Bears/Packers game on Nov. 16 2008, I drank about 10 beers (at a relatives house).  Since my back had been in constant pain from a slipped disk and my uncle had several back surgeries...I asked him for a pain killer...He had an oxy (when they were still obtainable)...STUPIDLY I took one after 10 or so beers.  I felt great for an hour and maybe 2...But then my life changed forever...

No joke, I woke up in the hospital 5 days later. That night I had "blacked out" and fallen 4 stories over my balcony to the ground (Chicago).  44 feet to be exact, since there was a railing.  I broke my neck and put my family and friends through unnecessary stress.  They slept by my side for days and not a day goes by that I don't appreciate all their support. 

This last year has been the worst of my life for many personal reasons.  All caused by taking that ONE pill.

If someone said, Hey Meat, Here is a bunch of cash, go start a charity...I would have to consider prescription pain killers as my cause.  Not just because they changed my life, but they affect the lives of many Americans...Most likely several people on this board. 

I didn't really feel the affects of these pills till I woke up in the hospital.  EVERYTHING hurt.  And I mean EVERYTHING. The only thing that kept me sane (after the morphine drip, which is another story) was knowing I would get my pain pills every 4 hours.  After months of these prescriptions, I NEEDED them.  They were easy to get.  Easier than the good weed I had been smoking.  It wasn't until a couple months ago that I stopped taking these pills.  I have since had 2 upper neck surgeries and 2 lower back surgeries.  I refuse to take vicodin or any other opiate.  When I stopped taking these pills, I went through a withdrawl that only a heroin addict could describe to you.  I couldn't sleep. I was sweating and shaking and I wished for death while I couldn't get out of bed for 3 days.  BUT then it was over. 

I would be in a different place in my life today if I never took that pill.  But I would not trade where I am for the world.  Sometimes a lesson learned is really a lesson earned.  I have been through hell and back these past 12 months.  I had a great job and a great marriage that all of a sudden disappeared.  I accept full responsibility for my actions.  I just know that I was young and naive, just like most of the young people on this board. 

I am not a preacher or anything.  I just ask that you think before you act. I didn't and I am paying the price.  It will not break me, but it has been a hurdle.

I think I just took my last pills for a while.... tolerance is getting high so I did a couple of big percocet the night before my last final.  Got all fucked up, woke up ten minutes before my final too panicked to realize how sick I felt, got through the test feeling like I had the worst hangover of my life and puked the second I got out of the class (still on campus) as well as in the middle of the street on the way home (had to pull over) and all day after that but there was nothing left in my stomach.  Basically felt hung over all day, never been pill sick like that before... the only thing that kept me alive was some beautful marijuana.

i know first hand how whack oxy's can get people.

2 of my good friends are in rehab after gettin to know oxy 80's very well wit fentanyl patch chasers...

the withdrawls are nuts....they've been on suboxone to help come down

The doc that gives me my pills, also told me to go find some weed also. Told him I couldn't find any in the idiot city I live in.

The doc then said he wished he could get it for me.

Interesting when paired up to Spitfire's experience.

I'f I didn't take pills, I'd be in so much pain, I get nauseous and don't have any appetite and don't eat. After not eating for 2-3 days, I shake and don't want to do anything. Humans have to eat.

Without pills, I wouldn't.

My head surprisingly didn't go through a car window also. I also take a pill for tremors that are so uncomfortable inside, I can't even tell you.

Narcotic pain pills yes, while addictive, manage my horrific pain. I don't get high one fricking bit . They just help me function, ie:manage the pain.

Narcotic pain pills when managed professionally, are way less harmful to kidneys and livers than aspirin, aleves, and especially ibuprofen. In fact, they cause them no harm. 

I've heard 3 different docs that don't know each other from different states tell me that in no uncertain terms. I could take the minimum amount of pain meds to help me function, (that are managed currently by no fewer than 5 docs) and take them the rest of my life with no damaging effects compared to all the over the counter crap out there.

Fact.

Once again, if I didn't take them, I'd be in so much nauseating pian in my back head, and neck, I would have no appetite at all,

...and I couldn't eat because of being nauseous from the pain.

That list is shit, and only for people that are getting any of that all on their own in bars, alleys, schools, etc..........

.....not legitimate doctors. 


(no offense to you spitfire, but how can you get high on a single percocet? Do you weigh 50 lbs? lol I wouldn't feel it.

(just kidding dude.... )

By the way, I barely drink anymore. I think the pills that doctors say I need, make me not feel like drinking much.

Can't remember last time I drank a glass of wine (I like red a lot, or I used to)

Once again, what I get is manged by a head trauma specialist, a general parctitioner, a shrink, and a neurologist (concussion).


No, don't take a fricking oxycontin after drinking a case that your "buddy" gave you.

Only as prescribed by real docs. (not just pill shops either)

I actually want to go back under the knife and get some discs fused. Perhaps the pain might go away, and I wouldn't need the pain meds.....

I should also say this.

I am not planning on taking pills (for pain) the rest of my life, probably not for more than another year or so.

I know when I quit, I'll detox, and it won't be fun at all.

Docs already told me to get ready for it when I'm ready,

... and like I told spitfire, I don't feel a percocet as far as headaches or back goes. So you can imagine what I'm probably taking.

That's what I take, their time release, and you'd never know I had taken anything if you rtan into m.

My insurance was fucked up for 6 weeks......The first 4 weeks, I paid cash. The contin80s at the pharmacy cost $495. The next month I said screw that. My insurance will be good in a couple weeks.

It wasn't fun after about a week.

 But once again, no appetite/eating...etc. Pain was excruciating......

Can't explain what it felt like detoxing until the insurance got straight again, but I was uncomfortable that's for sure......

I know also, I don't need or take as much as they prescribe, but who am I to say no.



I completely agree that weed is the answer. I just can't and suck at smoking it.

It's a shame that I can't leave the house after smoking. Just watch tv. I know guys that smoke weed all day and function.

It's amazing to me.

I wouldn't have erased it, but I recall you talking about what you did and stuff. You mean my email or home page?

cking email.....

I slept from 8:00 till Midnight. When I woke up, I was pissed that my family didn't call to include me for going out to breakfast. Had to look outside twice to convince myself it was too dark to be daytime/noon, although weather has been dark and shitty lately.

Dsn, Sun 13th 12:28 am I responded to a lengthy note (email) and returned one then to you. Is that the one?

If I end up surrendering to the idea of staying awake till breakfast, I'm going top punish myself with about 200 pushups for being dumb enough to take a nap at 8:00pm.
