great idea to suggest, but don't forget about the fight everyday after getting out for the rest of your life. What was a smoker who has not done so for 12 years? Once a criminal, always a criminal till the day you are dead. And if you didn't want to be known as a smoker in the first place then you shouldn't have tried it in the first place.
same goes for popping pills, or being a gambler. If you want to stop because it's messing with your life, then do it, but just know that it's a fight every single day. Even if you've stopped smoking for 12 years and can't stand the smell when you walk past someone doing it, you start coughing as proof to yourself that you can never go back, you are wrong. Keep on fighting everyday and picture the glass in your head always halfway full.
This is a very glass-half-empty perspective that ends with you saying to be optimistic. I understand where you are coming from but its not a FIGHT to avoid it every day, every day is an opportunity to realize even more how little you need it.

IMO the temptation is always there, but it is less tempting with every day. Any time you start to feel tired or down, you become more glad that you are actually feeling naturally tired, not burnt out or crashing, or rushing, or you are sleeping well instead of sleeping it off, etc. As long as you accept that there is no going back, there's no dabbling with painkillers, you are either not using them or continuing to use them, nothing else. Any amount that is done will continue (or start) a cycle in some capacity.

respect your opinion spitfire, but yes, i am optimistic and wish the best in everyone. And i don't mean to fight everyday without having fun and doing what you enjoy but even after 12 years, it might not be a daily "fight" but every so often you gotta remind yourself. i don't agree with the glass being half empty because you tend to think that someone or something owes you something but at a half glass full pace, you are being proactive with yourself and aware. Less tempting everyday? you can't think like that, it would be nice to but you can't take anything for granted even if it's been over 12 years let alone 3 days as it is today? Every coach is different in all 30 major league baseball teams, but for me i want that conscious effort coming out of my players day in and day out, not relying on the great month you've had, let alone the great career. It is my belief that justin verlander needs to continue to fight everyday and work hard as best he can each day even during the offseason to keep being on par to where his talent level is now and has been for a long time.

and for betthepet, good job on your 3 days, i really do hope the best in you and that you end up being happy. If you mess up and don't make it to 12 years, or even 12 days, that's alright, hope you can start a new streak as soon as you can, not saying you will fail or anything, but everyone needs to stand by each other's side because nobody is perfect.

Been there, done that with pain meds and alcohol. Muscle pain, night sweats, crazy bowel movements, shakes, mood swings, the list goes on and on ... i still remember that week of hell getting off vicodin. Good luck to you fella, it ain't easy but it can be done.

Call me crazy but I enjoyed shitting every 30 minutes. My abs never looked so good.
i was on 30mg Oxys everyday for 3 years , quit them completely for 8 months, then relapsed and have been on them ever since.
One thing I'm able to do is not let my per day intake get out of hand. I take one pill a day, never more never less. Usually a half at 2pm and a half at 8pm. So I'm high all day but never Really high.
I will quit again someday.

Detox- super fantastic advice telling the guy to go put on a show to be suicidal to get free sessions with drug counslers. Like you always say, people who drink and do drugs never actually can be held responsible for making bad decisions. Mostly because people are too weak to have the brain power to own up and admit reality and personal decision making. Also grreat advice to say that dude will never know he has a problem until group volunteers such as yourself get off by sharing stories at court ordered rehab of how out of control and self destructive you were on the sauce! If your story can help just one person its all worth it right? LOL! I love your types. On behalf of the drinking and drug community, we would like to thank you for your dedication to sharing your story to show us that we our powerless to addictions and need to meet guys like you on the reg to stay on the path of boredom and life of the church group that you claim is the only way out to anyone who favors a buzz.
Michael- I've been looking to trim up my abs and I've been desiring a more enjoyable sh'ittin experience. I just called my dealer and he said oxy's are gonna be $25 a piece for 30's! Whoa! I thought at first but I think its a small price to pay to kill two birds with one stone. Win win!

Giod luck brother. Prescription drugs are a huge problem today. There are more of them than ever before, and millions are getting addicted. The numbers are astonishing. Don't let 'em get you.
Peace bro.

This is a sad, sad post. Just about all of it is wrong.
First of all, 30's aren't oxy's and they only make you garbage when you're in withdrawal so you calling your dealer won't do anything for your "sh*tting experience" or your "abs" unless you become physically addicted and go into withdrawal. (i know it was a joke but it was a terrible one as usual)
Church group? I don't get it. Are you calling AA meetings a church group?
You're saying that I think "anyone who favors a buzz" is the same as an addict or an alcoholic? (that's not even close to what i think.. nice try though)
You say that i'm a group volunteer. well, i'm not and never said i was.
Court ordered rehab? (no idea what you're talking about)
The question was "what about people that need help and can't afford it?" saying that you're suicidal is the only thing that will immediately get you into a treatment facility if you don't have any money. getting into a treatment facility is a lot different than getting free sessions with a drug counselor.
There's a few more mistakes in your post ... other than that you were spot on as usual.

Getting through to you detox on my point is about as easy as it would be to teach Rainman how to tell jokes and understand humor. I simply read through this thread and pointed out multiple ridiculous things that go hand and hand with the mentality of your drug story turn your life around preachers. You make it sound preposterous that I make comments that point out that you are no stranger to being a big believer and preacher for AA, 12 steps, and rehab. You post about it at any chance you get. With your favorite being giving others advice on how programs and groups, and sponsors are the ONLY way because it worked for you yada yada yada! If you are such a moron in denial and can't even admit what moronic garbage you advised from your point of view is not one of a career volunteer podium AA speakers....... You are the moron I think you are. Adding about one the unfunniest chaps that comment in the forums. So when you say I never makes any sense and I am not funny..... I would expect that from a lack of humor moron who can't understand things that sail way over your head on the reg. For Pete's sake man admit it.......your life revolves around the past and you live your life for treatment programs. You take what you've learned in meetings and preach like you are a drug and alcohol big brother(violin playing)
Again you will say I am way off as usual with any point I've ever made. Yeah man I am way off on pointing out what drives you, I NEED A DETOX.

Detox- let me explain the two jokes I made in post 38...
1-I NEED A DETOX
2-Nobody is gonna start taking 30's(30 mg) to improve abs and increase pleasure taking dumps at $25 a pill(street value)...maybe $5-$10 a pill I would reconsider though;)

Michael, thanks for clarification. You just saved me $250 for 10 pills. The only moron here is you for mentioning ripped abs and increased pleasure taking so many dumps. Fyi-if you take what I said literally which you did(great salty is a moron proof example) I know all about em Mr oxycontin pro.... I actually choose not to buy them because I would rather hang out with paint/gas huffers than I would people blasted on oxy's. Absolutely no chance of carrying on any form of conversation with oxycontin junkies. You know what I'm talking about.....Oh wait, you probably don't because you are prob a burnout yourself and everyone talks about how big of a spaced out junkie you are. I've never known any of the oxy users to ever quit......To where they take many per day when a 1/4 a pill would make me melt.
