Courtney love did it. I wouldn't go as far to say one of the greatest bands ever, but still good.

The only song that I ever liked by them was that bowie cover that they did..that was really good...otherwise..just an ordinary band...

This thread has nothing to do with whether he was gay or not which he wasn't..... You need some serious psychological help, there's more to life than instigating arguments on the internet......

He was very talented, but also very troubled..

I think the Foo Fighters are 100x better than Nirvana was...

It's really hard to say what would have happened and how the band would have moved forward had he never killed himself..,

One thing is for sure... They single handedly killed the hair bands...

In my opinion they were one of the greatest bands.

They revolutionized the "grunge" sub genre of rock..

 Foo fighters are OK........I wouldn't put them above Nirvana..........but music is very subjective. I miss Layne Staley & AIC more than Nirvana.

I agree to each his own

But nirvana is definitely widely known as one of the greatest rock bands of all time.

I think Nirvana was the turning point for rock in the early 90's, without a doubt, and I really liove their music, but I just don't think they were around long enough to prove what they could have been.

I think they are recognized more for their influence on transforming rock and roll more than they were for their music.

 Those are good points...........they were different & created some great stuff but yes, not all of their material was great & the lack of longevity leaves a void which leaves one wondering what could've been & how they would've changed. Definitely unfinished.........
