If you really think games are fixed....

There are teams that sell out more than others in my opinion. I would say in college football for example would be USC. I don't know if many remember that USC was giving Penn St. 10 in a bowl game last year. USC was ahead by 2 touchdown and 16 seconds to go. They punt a weak punt so Penn St. could score a td to cover the pointspread. If you bet on USC, you could see clearly the play calling and the way that they played after the second half. Another game was a bowl game that USC played against Texas. USC was beating the living daylight out of Texas and didn't want to score anymore and allowed Texas to win the game. Common guys, Texas was not that great to win that championship that year. I bet on Texas and cheered for Texas but in my mind I knew I was on the sellout game. In my opion USC plays better than any other college or on a higher level so they shave points better than any other colleges. Some of you might disagree and say that I'm a dumb ass. For a team to shave points, all they have to do is call the same play on offense to where they know that they will be stopped and weaken up the defense. That is my two cents opion and you guys can disagree.

Fixing a game is gonna require 3-4 players in basketball or football. One player alone is not able to fix a game. Pro games-forget it. It's not gonna happen. On a college level-shaving is possible with enough money offered to 3 or 4 members of a team. I would think shaving an underdog would be much easier than shaving a favorite. If a college football team is a 22 point dog and flubs a few extra plays & loses by 30, they suck & no one gives it a second thought. If a college football team is a 12 point favorite and flubs a few extra plays and only wins by 5 points- that can be much more obvious. The real problem in all of this is that people can't keep their mouths shut. Eventually-months or years down the line-word leaks out that somebody paid off someone or that someone accepted a payoff. Betting patterns of all prior games can easily be analyzed and eventually most point shaving scams will be exposed. I think that fixed games are very very rare. All college players are warned in advance of the season of the risks & penalties. I highly doubt that most college kids are going to risk a Federal crime of sports bribery. The short term gain is not worth going to jail.
