I completely agree with GolliAA... not naive enought to believe that some college games aren't fixed, but i doubt that many pro games are fixed... read a book by Michael Francese which was a phenomenal read and in the book---- he ran a gambling ring for the mob back in the day----- that he would never approach pro athletes to fix games... why is somebody who is making millions fix a game???? he said that college kids who got into deep with his gambling operation would fix games for him.. that i believe.. certain tennis and boxing matches.. yes... pro games.. no way... there are some morons on here who belive that if a guy hits a three pointer at the buzzer to cover a game that the game is fixed.... The pro athlete may be making millions of dollars, but the ones that control the games are the Refs/Officials/Umpires, and they are not earning millions of dollars. With all these bullshit pass interference, holding and roughing the passer calls in the final seconds of games, it makes even the non-gambler wonder if the games are fixed.

I cant prove one way or another games are fixed. I believe some are. Especially the Sunday-Monday night games. Every bettor plays these games. That is when people either chase to win what they have lost over the weekend, or try and double up what they have won- somewhat generalizing there. But most everyone plays the Sunday and Monday night games.
The big difference between those and the Saturday-Sunday games is there is only ONE game. On Sunday afternoon there are 12 different games that players spread their money out on. Sunday night- one. Monday night- one.

And it can be done quite easily. Have one journeyman DB to "slip" on a play or two. Or a journeyman WR to "drop the ball" every now and then. Also, one referee to keep a team from getting the momentum.

How long have you been betting GolliAA1? Not all of the games are fixed but there are megabucks involved on certain games. Those certain games are fixed. Thanks for agreeing man. Was beginning to feel I was the only one around here with the opinion. Like I stated, point shaving has been proven in NCAA basketball. I'm not saying that doesn't happen. But the cases have been at "smaller" schools that don't get a lot of national recognition. For someone to state that someone from Duke (just a hypothetical situation) is ridiculous and just shows ignorance.

If you don't think oddsmakers are that good, you're going to lose a lot of money in your life. The guys that set the lines are pretty damn good at their job, but sometimes there are lines that are way off. If they continuously had lines that were one sided and losing, they wouldn't be setting lines for long.

I've been betting for several years now. Seen a lot of the same things that everyone else in the thread has. I understand that there is a bunch of money on one certain game, but for one side of a game to be so highly bet that Vegas gets in on a fix? how about the superbowl a couple years back (indy vs chicago) The PUBLIC was on the over and with 3 mins left in the game the over needed one point indy was up by i think 6 and insted of kick a chip shot fg w/ one of the best fg kickers they go for it get the first down and run out the clock.(over's get screwed by the Fixed)
