You obviously didn't take math in college .... if someone makes $6 an hour for hour for 8 hours they make $48 before taxes and other statutory deductions. If you have to pay someone $30 a day for daycare for ONE child how does this make sense?

I think the issue lies more in the legalized slavery that exists in your and other countries.

Welfare, the term itself, no longer exists in the way you are applying it (i.e., "He must be on 'welfare'") and neither does "food stamps", no matter how you attempt to apply it. The laughable "welfare stamps" is a mangling of the two obsolete terms I can't possibly duplicate the hilarity of.

The fact remains that there is more opportunity today for the poor, blacks, hispanics, etc. Opportunities to have someone else support you while you get your shit together. maybe the problem is ceos/VPs getting nice parachutes only to land another job 6 months later thats in the 7 or 8 figures.

Every state has state subsidized daycare. Canadacup hit the nail on the head, don't have em if you cant support em.

Point is I have kids and work hard to support them. I've never taken anything for free from my government because I don't have to. I worked hard, graduated college and have a good job now so I can afford to support my family, as well as all your families that do take government assistance for that matter. Problem is my taxes are paying for all the schmucks who are to lazy, or ignorant, to go out, and better themselves by getting an education. Guess what good jobs aren't out there for people who aren't willing to work, whether its at an education or a hard job they don't like. Collecting is the easy thing to do. Sit there, act like its owed to you, complain because you've been lazy your whole life and didn't put yourself in a good position to succeed, and then take free money coming from the taxes of hard working Americans. Seems like hardworking Americans are the ones who are punished, yet they are the ones not contributing to the problem??? Kinda backwards if you ask me

A % of people collecting welfare are mentally ill and can't cope with the simple resposiblities of a menial job. A shitty as it sounds there are a large # of people that really are completely useless.

The thing is its American Culture- people do it, companies do it, it will never end as law makers pass these types of subsidies/gov. assistance/entitlements to get voted in/stay in power.

-Oil Companies get Billions, do they need it?

-Farmer/dairy subsidies-largest in the world a couple years ago

-Coal/Green energy- Both new clean energy and old dirty energy get pretty large subsidies/tax breaks- shouldn't gov choose one path and give the money to that sector?

-Financial Companies- allowing to to pay structure companies so they pay lower rate on profits vs if they were a different type of company.

-Airports-Many are allowed to use Federal/State land rent free

Not saying any of this is right or wrong, but companies and people both want subsidies and they it the system was created everyone and every company feels they deserve something from the government.

People say they are poor, need help, etc.-

Companies say they create jobs, need to compete, would increase prices without them.

People are saying "don't have kids if you can't afford it", should companies close down if they can't work without gov. subsidies? If that was the case half of farmers would be gone tomorrow.

Price of food and energy would go up.
