i'm an american who has lived in canada the last six years. there's quite a bit of history we don't learn in the US regarding the burning of the whitehouse. it's here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burning_of_Washington (an interesting read)
most countries don't really educate their children about their own defeats and mistakes unfortunately. my japanese wife didn't learn about the massacres in china by japan in the 30s, German kids don't learn too many details of nazi oppression, etc.
i think it's interesting how subjective history is depending on what country you're in. for instance, not many japanese could tell you the date of pearl harbour, but they could all tell you the dates of the atomic bombing of nagasaki and hiroshima. it's reverse in america.
i was a heavy machine gunner in the marines for a time, so i'm pretty patriotic, but i live in canada because my son needed a surgery when he was born and it would've cost $25,000 in georgia and was free when we moved here. canada's awesome, so stop all the hating!

Being from Toronto l think its time for us Canadians to quiet down a bit, because our cities are becoming plagued with the same problems that have plagued american cities.. Budgetary shotfalls, crime, poor infrastructure maintenance etc....This was not the Toronto that l grew up in. So maybe us "sharp" Canadians should stop pointing out the flaws in our neighbours and start spending some quality time thinking how we can solve our own problems. You guys write as if we are living in Utopia. Believe me l have lived in Utopia...that was Canada in the 70s and early 80s....Todays Canada is not so great that we can point fingers and ridicule others.

Well I agree you could find a bunch of idiots here and put together a similar video.
But overall, we learn a large portion of American history. Americans don't get taught any Canadian history.
We're all brothers....so its stupid to have this argument.
Both countries need each other for different reasons....Americans need our endless supply of natural resources and we need protection and other forms of commerce.
We each have our own identity, but should share the same or similar goals/aspirations.
