I like most want to buy some but have some reservations around security. I personally think this type of currency will be the future. If it is bitcoins and not the next one that comes along we will be kicking ourselves for not pulling the trigger. I have been wanting to buy since this thread came out and got serious when it was up to 80.

The drug and gambling business is a very serious business bro.
Those of us that missed out early certainly hope the bubble will come soon, and then things stabilize so we can get in still somewhat early.

The wallets can get hacked. That's why they suggest you keep them in "cold storage".
I will be very interested to see now that the price is so high if the bitcoins themselves are hacked - or duplicated - or whatever.
Its like any industry in its infancy. The infrastructure gets built through trial and error. But it would be very concerning if someone somehow figured out a way to create more bitcoin.
My 3 bitcoin would then be in trouble.

I have been using Bitcoin to wager the past 3 months and no issues. Never bought into it as an investment only to bet. Also bought in more than a month before Van's post.
I cashed out my initial buy in of $130 for 10. It was more of an experiment than anything. Been a fun ride so far.

10 years ago I was duped into buying some Iraqi dinars. I had a friend who bought tens of thousands of them on speculation. His "investment" nearly wiped him out. There are always a few behind these "investments" who are going to gain at the loss of the many.

Is anyone familiar with the tulip bulb futures market of the 1600's or the Liberty Dollar? I am not trying to be a negative nancy, as I would love to see a widely accepted alternative to reserve notes, but I am still skeptical of the long-term success (mostly because the central banks hate competition).
