Never bet at Wynn!

*ssholes asked for my ID and social security #.  When I asked why they wouldn't answer!

How much were you trying to collect?

I made a $2K bet on a +170 moneyline.

Anything over $5k they say they get your ID and SSN.

You can bet that LSU beats Idaho on the Moneyline at $5K.  They'll get your ID and SSN because you get $5,100.

I had that same problem at the Venetian. I was going to tip the lady until she asked for my id and ssn. I kindly remarked you didnt ask me for that when I placed the bet. I was so irate. We are talkin the Venetian a couple grand should be a bird dropping for them.

I've never had any issue at Cantor books. I am normally at the M or Hard Rock. Cantor is now managing the Venetian as well, so I guess we'll see what happens.

IT used to be that any amount over $1200 won would require a SSN and a 1099 filed for tax purposes by the casino. I think the amount has been raised but I'm not sure. It's not the casino's fault. Split your tickets to smaller amounts to avoid this hassle and save your losers for documentation for filing your taxes to deduct against your gambling winnings if you hit a big payout.

About 3 years ago the Wynn did that to me at the crap table for a 2K buy in.I haven't been back since.

They only do that so they can keep track of anyone who goes over 10k in a 24hr period.Its not a big deal and has nothing to do with taxes.It has to do with a money laundering law

It depends on the Shop. At Stations Books I believe the amount is 10 K before they ID. I would say to avoid signing up for any casino "Club Cards". I don't think the perks you get are worth anybody knowing how and what you wager.

they wonder why places like macau are buring vegas. i know its a pain in the ass but just split your wager into smaller increments get multiple tickets. You can also buy chips in lower denominations. You can almost always hook yourself up with multiple player cards with fake names and ssn. just use your head a little. and for all those moral compasses that im sure want to chime in with their fingers on the pulse of right and wrong. just remember those books and casinos would take every cent you have if given the chance. not to mention what government is already getting away with.

Guys, this is pretty standard at any sportsbook. And it's federal regulations, it has nothing to do with the book trying to "punish" you. It has nothing to do with taxes, or if you win or lose. Try to make a bet for $5500, and they'll still ask you for that safe information. Whether it's money going in, or money coming out, the federal government is very strict with the casino's to collect this information.

Once I won a fair amount under 5k at the the Hilton and I was asked for my first n last name but no i.d. It was really weird n could not figure out why?

Technically, they're required by the feds to ask for i.d. any transactions $10k or over. Not winnings, transactions. So, if you win a $5,500 ticket, the transaction is $10,500 therefore, you must provide i.d. I was told it's not for tax purposes, but for money laundering. They never did ask me for SSN though.

budwiser- You didn't have to show them anything to collect on that wager. They can ask but you do not have to provide it to them. They can refuse to accept the wager if you don't give them what they ask for but that amount, they shouldn't have asked for anything. the magic number where you're required to provide ID is $10,000 cash wagered in a 24 hour period.

On occasion, I run bets for some pretty big players and every sportsbook in town knows who I am but not one of them knows my name. I can get down large sums but I just spread it around. I bet nickels and dimes all over town. That way the number usually doesn't move and the amounts don't raise a red flag. Also, never show them one of those stupid slot club cards.

 

I hear you about the 10K but this stupid kid refused to give me my $ and I had to go back home.  I couldn't wait-I suppose I could hire a lawyer and all that.

It just makes me want to rip off that casino.  If I have a good bet, find someone to put them in there in small amounts like you said.

In an industry where there needs to be trust, that's no way to treat customers.  If they want my $ on bets, they need to treat me like a human being and not a threat if I happen to win one stinking  bet.

If anyone has a good bet, please go to the Wynn and rip that place off for me, thanks.

And if they don't want my bet-it's real easy-just say we have a limit for you or don't come back again.

That's a hell of a lot easier than let's take down your address and SSN.  I'm still pissed about that kind of treatment....

It's bullsh!t when you only want the ID when someone WINS.  We don't want your ID if you LOSE...what kind of BS is that

Casino's got to gain the trust of the players, this is no way to do it.

As I said, mine wasn't even remotely close to $10K.

Again, it's that kid with the million dollar stiff suit, that if anyone knows him, he ought to get fired.

I do know someone famous I saw in the Wynn, when I was there, and his/her friend, that if I said would cause a lot of harm, because hes/shes shouldn't really be there.  And why don't I say it?  Because unlike that stiff kid know-it-all I know better.

If you like a game that much to bet 5K on it just split up the bets into 1k bets and cash them seperate times. or just give the Wynn the info and claim it on your taxes and try to get an offset by getting  win/loss statement if you use a players card.

I know how to cheat the books now, if that's what it takes, they do this sh!t and don't want you to be honest, well so be it.....do watch need to do

budwiser- An idiot named Johnny Avello mismanages the Wynn. He's a fucking moron and only hires morons. I have no idea how that guy has gotten as far as he has seeing as he doesn't know the first thing about sports or betting. I can count on one hand the number of sportsbook managers in Las Vegas that know what they're doing and I'd still have three fingers left.

As far as regulations go, they make them up as they go along because they're too fucking stupid to learn the real regulations. Usually the customer doesn't know any better so they just do what the manager or supervisors say becasue they figure they know what they're talking about. They don't.

Last week I got down $55,000 to win $50,000 for someone on an NBA total by spreading the bets all over town. There were two of us and not one bet was over $220. The line only moved one point from the opener. No one even blinks at small bets like that. I've been doing that on and off in Las Vegas for years. Not once have I ever shown my ID. And I never will.
