Everything is more difficult with a mild retardation. Making french, receiving packages, every day activities, etc. You might qualify for in-home assisted living, look into it.

    Hope this helps

sorry austin, but that first line was funny.  i wasn't expecting it.  it's the kind of thing i wish i had said, although not necessarily in response to a harmless comment about french fries.

    silk  .  nice work.

anyway, my wife makes french fries with potatoes or sweet potatoes.  i'm not on the cooking committee so i'm not sure exactly how it works but she seasons them with salt, pepper and whatever else and olive oil and then bakes them.  they are pretty good.  i can't east fast food though so i may have different tastes.

Plenty of good recipes here.  There is technique to good fries.

    https://www.foodnetwork.com/search/delegate.do?fnSearchString=French+fries&fnSearchType=site

Many of these recipes have 5 star ratings.  I've made a ton of dishes from recipes that I got off the food network website.  If a dish gets 5 stars, it's more than likely legit.

Fries in the death trap are cooked frozen to a VERY hot oil, over 400 degrees.

Also most FF's are formed potato product, if you go to a place like In and Out where they use real pots with a veggie cutter you will notice the fries are less crisp and more mushy.

Is an art and a science............. grease temperature, potato temperature, moisture, etc.

Tricky and I don't even fuck with it.

STEAK FRIES are idiot proof tho and taste better anyway.  Just spear up the potatoes and roast in the oven or pan fry.

Heck........ most restaurants can't even get french fries right.

The frozen crinkly ones end up being the best around.

Cut some potatoes, carrots, root vegetables of various kinds including beads. Put it all in a bag, add a healthy dose of olive oil, then add garlic, basil, salt, pepper, cayenne and mix it together in the bag. Then bake it until crispy, usually 50 minutes. It is gooooooooood

Cook in some closed tin foil? Bake on cookie sheet? What are beads, doesn't sound like something that should be eaten? Put some fresh parmesan cheese in there and you'd be a true player.

i did the whole soak them, fry them, dry them and then fry them again. i did not have a thermometer and from all indications the temp is a critical factor. i will get a thermometer.

the other thing is i NEVER fry anything so on the rare occasion i do try to make fries, what the heck am i supposed to do with all the oil???

anyway, a lot of effort and work for something you can get cheaply and quickly at a restaurant...

if you pan fry,got to wait until the oil gets real hot otherwise you will endup with oil soaked fries and thers nothing you can do to correct that.
Best thing to do is drop one fry in and see if oil starts cooking it or it just lays there soaking the oil.

Like i said in other post, buy yourself a good deep fryer and you should have zero problems making fries
