Vols get revenge for last years Game One loss visiting the Golden State. They lost 45 - 31 to the Cal Golden Bears.
The defense rises to the occasion today and hold the bruins under 20. Big win for the SEC. Neuheisel gets his Bruins off to a respectable start. Look for them to beat BYU 9/13 TO AVENGE LAST YEARS BOWL LOSS AGAINST THE COUGARS.

Tuff game for the Vols 2000 miles and UCLA I have no faith in Fulmer he is the worst coach in the SEC. Would be a big win for the SEC with Gators beating Hawaii and a VOLS win.

UCLA announced that Kevin Craft will be named the starting QB. Who knows how long Ben Olson will be out. It might be an upgrade considering Olson's spotty performances over his career. I wouldn't touch the game until we know how well Craft will play in the UCLA offense.

This is an early season gift to start you off playing with "house money". Take the Vols, and bet it big as this game will be no contest. TN isn't a great team, but they have an excellent offensive line and a power RB. They will control the line of scrimmage and drive it against UCLA consuming a lot of clock. With an experienced QB, or strong RB, UCLA might could expolit UT's weakness on the defensive front, but TN's defense is good enough to control the UCLA offense with a new head coach. Vols win by 14+. 5 unit play for me.

I just don't know what to expect from the O this year. They are saying in Knoxville its kind of a "west coast" offense where we will use short passes and draws and screens to open up for a few shots down field later. How much later is the question?? I look for this to be a real snooze fest early, maybe 10-3 halftime. Maybe the Vols will open it up late and I'm positive Crompton will play better with a lead.
The Vols secondary is going to be GREAT this year, which is good news after how bad we looked at times last year. I don't see UCLA being able to throw anything deep against us, and I'm almost positive they won't even try too often. Who would put in a 3rd string QB against a good DB field and say "let it fly!" ? So hopefully we'll have 7 in the box and slow the run down enough to force lots and lots of punts, and turn some good field position into Points while we learn this new O.
I like the Vols, and like the first half under (don't have yet, as long as its under 21)

Liking Rocky Flop myself. (I just threw up in my mouth after writing that, but as much as I don't like Tenn or Fat Phil, I don't like playing around with my money either)

agree with Maccallan... this is an early gift... this game will be over by halftime...
As long as I have been a fan of the Vols, they very rarely put the nail in the coffin to put a team away. I think they will win and cover, but I'd be leary of a 17 point lead at half could quickly become a one possession game in the 4th quarter. The more I think about it, I may go bigger on Vols 1H than for the full contest.

Probably the best O Line in the SEC, Arian Foster, controlled running attack with short dump passes from the newbie Crompton and a tough D coached by Chavis; all this equals a long day for the Bruins and their 3rd string QB.

this looks like the easiest play of the weekend to me... Tennessee is going to be a front-running team this year, and UCLA is nothing but young, and without their QB for this game... just not a lot of good things to say about UCLA...
this game breaks down simply... Tennessee should be able to run for about 6 yards per carry all day long... UCLA won't be able to move the ball through the air at all, and doesn't have a running game to make up for it...
i predict that the final score of this game is going to really shock people... UCLA isn't going to be as bad as they will look losing this one...

Exactly the way I see it Sheperd. UT will struggle and have problems with teams that play as physical as they do, but UCLA cannot. TN will control the line of scrimmage and pound the Bruins with a big, strong back. Eating up clock while averaging over 5 yards per carry will wear the defense down, keep the ball away from the UCLA offense, and use play action to throw effectively. I see a rout on Monday night. UCLA will improve in the coming years under Neuheisal, but with no experience at the key positions, the offense is helpless against decent defenses. Defense is TN's weakness, but UCLA is not talented enough to take advantage of it. Five unit play for me.
