Southern California at Oregon State (09/25/2008)

Too early in the year for USC to falter, plus they are still healthy, very healthy.

I don't expect Pete Carroll to show any pity, against anyone this year, early in the season. USC schedule can be consider one of the easiest, out of the TOP 5 teams. The only other TOP 25 team they play against, is Oregon, who lost to Boise St, at home.

Oregon went through 3 QB that game, and IIRC, are now on their 5th string QB. (Personally, I don't see how Oregon is ranked that high. They should be between 15-20, with the situation they're in.) PAC 10 teams' offense, revolves aroud the QB, who I believe have some of the best QBs in the country. When their QB goes down, so does the expectation for the season.

USC will play Oregon next week at home, who are still working out their QB situation. We can expect the Trojans to stampede over the Ducks, after they wear out that defense. So, people will consider that game, easy, and not worth much in terms of competitiveness, just like the Ohio St game.

The Men of Troy will have to blowout, dominate, & curb-stomp any team they play this year, if they want to win the votes. Because you can bet, that at the end of the year, when there are undefeated Big 12 or SEC teams, this conversation will come up again. And the question will be, whether or not they SHOULD, be in the big game, base on their strength of schedule.

For the record, I'm not a USC fan. But I do believe that they can play against any team in the country, even though they play in a weaker conference.

Saw the Beavers lose to Stanford a couple of weeks ago.  They suck... bad!  USC will crush them.

I saw Oregon St play against Stanford, too. Those fookers gave-up....they freaking quit playing, once they knew they couldn't stop this team, and that freak of a runningback. Please go watch that game again, before making a decision. We cannot put our faith, in a team who quits playing. That is a very strong sign of weakness, immaturity, and bad coaching.

It was a similar visions this week with Penn St. they are 3-0 ATS. They did have different conditions but all things considered this is a game you should watch and enjoy. The plain and simple math is to go with the Beavers. The smart move is to watch this and save you cash for a better bet.

The fact that the line is moving is a matter of balance the goal of the books.

This is a watcher. If you must bet +25 or more is really hard to pass up on. A herd of people will. A herd of people will go -25.

It's a day of thing. More than likely a small bet if any. Top teams are also starting to begin thinking about staying away from injuries.

They have stopped the air attack and Carol is worried about it. A good way to calm a stadium is a running game. TIC TOC the game ends and the spread we learn is a reaction of the herd not the head.

So Mark Sanchez is going to double his interception total in this game and against this defense? I doubt it. The guy is completing close to 70% of his passes. I don't think he'll even have to throw it that much because the OSU rush defense is horrible. They let up 240 yards rushing to Penn State and another 210 to Stanford. They played well against Hawaii but Hawaii is terrible this year. If anything I can see USC scoring on two ints for td or a fumble recovery for touchdown. They have caused 7 turnovers in two games.

Look for USC to use it's running back by committee early on to pile up the yards, put up some points and tire out the OSU defense. After that Sanchez can exploit the defense with some play action.

I'm not worried about OSU putting points on the board against this USC defense. It's arguably the best in the nation and definitely the best at stopping the run. They're allowing under 200 yards of total offense and only 5 point a game.

And if you're worried about USC getting up to a big lead, pulling their starters and having OSU get a backdoor cover, don't be. USC has 5 star recruits as backups at almost every position. This team is on a collision course with the BCS title game. OSU will be outclassed and outmatched in this game. A lot like they were in the PSU game except they won't have a flight home to think about it

In the paper today ( sports page ) Las Vegas. USC's coach said. We've had difficult times with Oregon State in years past ,particularly in playing there.We'd love to play a nice football game and get out of there with a win and get on back home.

This is probably the best team USC has had since Bush, Leinart, and White left. And this OSU team is not nearly as good as they've been in the past few years.

Now that that is out of the way, three important things to consider:

1. Pete Carrol is a fucking rockstar! And USC is hollywood.  Two bye weeks already? Gonna be awfully tough for a ego-driven team and coach to keep their top spot without a blowout. Which means no third string QB's in the third quarter and def. no chances for rudy (remeber that movie?) to get in the game and inspire a sequal. Plus  all the stupid fuckin script writers aren't gonna be loafin around Autzen stadium. 

2. Have you watched USC this year? They are the real deal.  Dirty Sanchez makes Booty look like Matt Flynn and every one else is a 5 star recruit with 4 star recruits siting on the bench to take their place.   With all that being said, the only thing they haven't faced yet is a heavy pass attack something the beavers are very capable of. 

3. USC's top cover corner is out which doesn't really matter. (He's a sophmore and a seniors taken his spot for the week?- ya USC is fucknuts) Leads me to the Beavers WR's. They are good- especially one of them who is gonna catch some pass's sorry can't remeber his name.

Enough of the nuetral analysis I'm sure you guys are on top of this shit so lets give a hand for the Oregan Beavers (Albeit beat the fuck up) on a last mintue backdoor cover once that line climbs to 27 Thursday afternoon. THURSDAY HOME DOGS WILL BITE YOU AND ITS NOT JUST THIS YEAR PRETTY HISTORICAL TREND.  If your a USC fan don't worry they'll beat em' by 24 points and keep their spot. Did I mention the over? GETm... think you know more about the Thursday night home dog trend than i do?  no!... i've been tracking it religiously for 12 years... religiously... it is my trend!

and do you know what is great about this trend?  the reason it continues to work year after year, despite the fact that everybody knows about it?  it works because people always finally decide to jump on the dog on these games, after being on the favorite for 4 straight games... and these games are the ones where the trend doesn't work... the trend does not work when you are dealing with elite teams... it works on those middle of the road "who cares about these teams" games...

don't believe me?  just refer back to last year, when the home dog was blistering... right up until everyone got suckered betting against... you guessed it!... USC!

more evidence?  look at the 4 teams they have made favorites on Thursday night this year, and the 4 teams they made dogs... all 4 favorites are high profile teams in transition (on the downturn!), and all 4 dogs are under the radar up-and-coming teams with lots of returning starters (on the rise!)... that is when the homedog bites...

how do OSU and USC fit into those categories?  they don't... in fact, OSU is one of those phony favorites from week 1 that is on the downturn...

nobody is asking why this line is so high if home dogs are raking it in on Thursday night... but you should...

 

 

this game is about 1 thing only... not Thursday night... not where it's played... it is about mismatches... and they are all over the field... there is not a single position or unit on the field (including coaches or special teams) that favors Oregon St... and guess what?  that matters!

 

predictions (all of these will come true):

Moevao will get sacked at least 5 times... fumbling at least once...

Moevao will get picked off at least twice, and USC will score at least 1 return TD (fumble, punt, int, KO)...

USC will rush for 250+ yards...

USC will pass for 250+ yards...

USC will score a minimum of 45 points...

USC will have at least a 35 point lead at some point in the game...

 

and oh yea... USC will cover (-24)... comfortably...

I'll be waiting on pins and needles...........and soaking my brain in gin.........all in a tither.......holding my breath in anticipation of your pontification...........lighten up Fancis and keep it clean and supportive, please.  Or just say USC and go about your business. 

I was at that game,  and ended up on the goal posts after it was over.  I agree with 2-digit home dogs on thursday nights,  but not with this one.

Now all I have to do is drink my gin........dang it.  I may look at the over in this game a little more closely.........I'm just scared that USC def will rise up........but old Matt Sanchez got beat out by two different QB's over the last 3 years out there.........and I'm not convinced he has the poise if pressured to get it done in a big road game.  I am officially putting out the challenge to that 3 year bench sitter..........and I know he hears me and fears me..........show me something over the next three games........and then I will buy into them winning the title!
