South Florida at Rutgers (10/18/2007)

I may have to agree with those that say the spread smells shady but it is at Rutgers on Thursday night football.  What do you want South Florida to be favored and not shady -5?  I gotta ride with the Bulls on this one but for some reason I do feel a push coming or maybe worse.  ITS MATT GROTHE people!!!

This game reminds me of the Louisville/Rutgers game last season. Rutgers was the Cinderella team playing at home against a usually dominant Louisville team. I took the usual Louisville at the half and was looking good at halftime until Rutgers shut them down in the 2nd half of that game to come out with the SU victory.

It's like USF is coming out this season the same way Rutgers did last season. I was having a hard time deciding which way to go with this one the numbers come out just about even from a numbers stand point.

USF is 8-1 ats when revenge is involved against a good team

Rutgers are 11-4 ats as home dogs

USF 17-6 ats after playing 2 straight non conference games

Rutgers are 8-1 ats when playing against teams with a turnover margin of +1 per game or better.

There is no doubt that USF is the real deal but so is LSU, USC, Oklahoma, Kentucky, Cal, etc., etc., etc

You guys have to admit this is probably by far the most wackiest College Football season thus far. Meaning that no one has yet to hold the number 1 or 2 spot in the polls throughout the season.

Who can honestly say in here that USF would at one point be ranked #2 in the nation? Not trying to take anything away from USF IMO they are a good team but can they handle being the hunted instead of being the hunter?

I want to stay away from this one but if I do touch this one I will put a small play on Rutgers final.

Thanks to the few of you here who do post analysis.  At least theere are a couple of serious players in here.   Leaning Rutgers and Under here.  So. Fla has not been tested at all, Rutgers has the edge at QB that most people here are overlooking.  WVU was missing White the whole second half when they played So. Fla so throw that out the window.  They are now they hunted and their overrated rank will be exposed.  Line going down for a reason, because Rutgers is the smarter play.  GL all.

BigDaddy, you made a great point that I was not aware of, but that I think is a big factor in this game.  One angle I have been thinking here is that USF usually wins with the help of turnovers.  Clearly they create them -- witness the WVU game, turnovers turned that game on its head.

So along those lines I'm thinking that USF can't rely on turnovers to win EVERY big game.  If the turnover battle is even, I like Rutgers in this matchup, because they present a balanced attack, are well-coached, and are a home dog on a Thursday night.

And then I see your stat:

This tells me they should be able to hold on to the ball.  Either that or they can create some turnovers of their own.

I have one unit on Rutgers +3.  Not dissing USF as I have won with them multiple times this year.  I'm a believer.  But I don't see them going undefeated, and the home crowd makes a difference here... just like it did when USF beat WVU.

, One thing on the USF and the WV game, as I went big on that game and watched every play...

SOme of the worst play calling I have ever experienced.  WV had NO problem moving the ball when they pased, they just never called them.  Run Run Run, pass in OBVIOUS situations, PUNT or Turnover.  

They really could have beat the piss out of USF if any 12 y/o Madden palyer was able to call the plays.

Going to take USF HT and for the game...

Going to use comon sense...USF is the better team on paper if they want National respect they need to show NUMBER 2 in the country , they need to prove it ...

Rutgers ML Big!

For anyone who knows anything about college football, Rutgers seems like the obvious play. It can't be that easy, right? Something's up....Any advice or insight?
