To help get anyone off the fence as one might say here are a few key factors to look at. I won't give stats because anyone can look that up, but pay close attention to anytime S.C. faced an opponent that had a versitle QB they lost. The only time S.C. dominates is when they are up agianst one deminsional teams and can expose it. They also rely heavy on turnovers by opposing teams to win and if lucky cover. Vandy may not have the greatest record but S.C. is a B- team. Smelley will get his chance and will over think every pass and also he was pulled half way through this game last year with 2 picks in 2 quarters BTW. For a team who needs turnovers (SC) they were 101st lat year. I will say that Vandy sucks at feild goals unless Ryan Flowers kicks, but even he is unproven. IF and only IF S.C. wins this game it will be by no more than 6 due to poor F.G, kicking by Vandy but S.C. will need to pray alot to keep this dogfight under control.

Interesting how Vandy gets no love from the oddsmakers. They opened at +3 vs. Miami Ohio last week and actaully were as high as +4 at one point.  Consensus on this board chose Miami O. last week.  My mag predicted Vandy last in SEC East because they only had 9 starteres returning. They shellacked Miami O last week despite only 91 yds passing due to great running by QB Nickerson and long punt return.  If they can show balance by completing a few passes early I like the home dog here as well...

just to clarify something... Tennessee was not a sucker bet... it was a bad beat... Tennessee got 4 first half INTs but missed too many opportunities to put the game away... it was one shot in the foot after another... that happens... but it doesn't mean it was a sucker bet... Tennessee was the right side from a handicapping perspective... just not from a final score perspective...
 
however, i do believe SC is a sucker bet...

UCLA figured in that game. To many people just couldn't see it.

why sc had 4 picks as well... and our defense is looking amazing... you know that ncstate didnt even cross 50 all second half...

South Carolina is 4-1 ATS in last 3 season as a favorite of 3.5 to 10 points and 4-0 ATS in last 3 season on Thursday night.  I think people keep thinking that it is going to be like last year on thursday night that most dogs won.  But I think South Carolina will win by 17.

Vandy has the edge at QB with Nickson, and has a great defense,plus double digit dog and home on primetime,good enough combination for me...take VANDY

Thursday night home dogs did not get invented last year... been tracking that trend for almost 15 years... has never in any season lost money... not once... in particular, the Thursday night home dog in interconference matchups is the single strongest trend i've ever seen in any sport... covers almost 80% of the time and the dog wins outright almost exactly 50% of the time...

it's not a 1 year trend...

I gotta go with VANDY +10 - I will admit the revenge factor from last years loss is something to look into...but Vandy will put up enough points to cover...

Amen, GoG...these are the games that I circle on the calendar every year and just wait for the number to come out.  I bet with confidence that this particular situation will be in my favor way more times than it isn't.  If there's a tried and true trend in college ball, this is certainly it.

I not saying that it was a trend just for last year and not for past 10 years.  I was just going by what people were saying on here about the dogs on Thursday night.  I wish the best of luck to you somebody has to win and somebody has to lose. Just hope its not me that loses. GL

not a big deal, phish... just wanted to clarify... i know the trend got more attention last year, so i think some people think it was a 1 year wonder type of a deal...
 
i really don't sweat these Thursday night games... not a big deal if it loses... i blindly bet the side and ML on all of these games, knowing i will almost always get at least a push, and at the end of the year i will have about triple my money... if this one doesn't win, a different one will...

another thing about Vandy is they are skilled in the Defensive backfield-- That DJ Moore kid is a beast and a former USC Cock snub.  He will get up for this game and have his team ready to play along side him... mix that up with one of the better defensive ends in the SEC and Spurrier could be in trouble!
 
It's going to be hard to put up 40 points when the guys dropping back are more athletic than the guys catching passes
