Mizzouri is the play here. There are too explosive on the offensive side of the ball and have played a much tougher schedule. The Big 10 is a LONG way down from what it was. I don't see this one being competitive. Also, the game being played in Big 12 country doesn't hurt. Big Play on Mizzou

Mizzou has about the worst defense I have seen this year (maybe Hawaii is worse) but, they will score their 45...Does Northwestern score 35????

Missu has no pass defense at all. I've seen them play several games and... not good. I haven't seen much of NW but they are not push overs. The thing that makes me wonder is the powerfull missu pass game. I'll take NW & 13 here.

The linesmakers did a terrific job setting that o/u line @ 66...I'm thinking this one could very well be a 35-31 type ball game, give or take 3-6 pts either way...Tough call here.

Northwestern +12.5 

I couldn't disagree more with everyone in here about this game. I really think that NW is the play here for a number of reasons. In fact, I think that they may win this game SU. 

1) I like to read line movements and what Vegas is trying to do by manipulating lines. I ask, why has the line dropped from   13.5 to 12.5 when 75% of the public is taking Mizzou? Vegas wants even more action on the Tigers. I love being on the negative side of these type of line movements.

2) The Big 12/Big 10 perception: Yes, we all can agree that the Big 12 has been the better conference, specifically the Big 12 South. However, its not like Missouri has held their own against the Big 12 South. Missouri has been mediocre at best throughout this year and has been consistently overrated throughout the season. Very much of this is due to the fact that had beaten up on the Big 12 North for the majority of the year. Meanwhile, NW has played strong for the most of the year, and you have not heard very much about them. I've seen this team play, and I think their offense is going to be very difficult for Mizz to stop.

3) In bowl games, the better defense typically will control the tempo. Missouris offense is awesome at almost 500 ypg, but their defense is allowing 415 ypg! That is pathetic. NW for a strong offenseive team, has a reasonably solid defense allowing under 350 ypg.

4) Look at how Missouri has performed in their 3 biggest games of the year:

OK State L 23-28
Texas L 31-56
Oklahoma L 21-62 

These are the teams from the Big 12 South that made this conference so strong. Missouri was also lucky enough to avoid Texas Tech, who I'm sure would have rung up 60 on them.

You can argue that NW got blown out in their two biggest games of the year to Michigan State and Ohio State and lost to lowly Indiana, but otherwise they have been quite consistent beating Iowa and Minnesota on the road just to name a few. 

Missouri, on the other hand, in addition to the games listed earlier, struggled to beat Illinois and Baylor. They also lost their second to last game of the season to Kansas, who really struggled down the stretch.

In conclusion, I just feel that Missouri has been way overrated throughout the whole year with their two highly-touted Heisman candidates (Daniels and Maclin). I also really feel like Northwestern has been under the radar and wants this game much much more. Missouri had visions of being in a BCS game, maybe even the championship game coming into the season. This is NW's championship game, a chance for them to put their program on the map and to defend the honor of the Big 10. If NW doesn't win outright, I will be shocked if this game isn't close...

I love how you compare Missouri's performance vs. The Big 12 South to blow out loses suffered by Northwestern to Michigan State, Ohio State, and Indiana. Missouri didn't struggle at any point versus Illinois or Baylor and waxed Nebraska, K State, and Colorado. My thoughts here are that 8 teams in the Big 12 could easily beat Northwestern. I can agree that Missouri got exposed as somewhat as a fraud this year with national title hopes in mind but they were exposed by arguably the two best teams in the country in Texas and Oklahoma. The Big 12 is just that much better than any conference in the country this year. When Missouri faced teams similar to an Indiana such as a Colorado or K State they waxed them. Northwestern couldn't and didn't. The same will happen here imo as Northwestern doesn't have the athletes on either side to keep up. My only fear is that the over may have been set too high if Missouri wins 56-7 or a similar score.

1) I wasn't comparing the conferences. The Big 12 is clearly better. The point I was trying to make is that Missouri really stuggled in those big games, against strong spread offenses like the one NW runs.

2) NW didn't get blown out by Inidiana, they lost by 2...Still a horrible loss, no less.

3) Missouri did struggle against Baylor and Illinois:

They beat Baylor by a field goal in the final minutes and only outgained them 490-438.

They beat Illinois by 10 and only outgained them 549-532.

I would call those struggles, especially when they yield an everage of 486 yards in the two contests.

4) What 8 teams from the Big 12 could beat NW?

I will definitely give you Oklahoma, Texas, Texas Tech, and Oklahoma State. You could make an argument for Missouri, even though I think that they may lose this game. Nebraska would not beat them, nor would Kansas, but even if  we were to include them, that still only makes 7. So you're saying that one of the 5 reamining teams, all who have losing records would win as well...THAT'S PRETTY LOGICAL.

5) You argued that Missouri would have killed teams that NW struggled against or lost to. The only opponent that these two had in common was Illinois. Missouri won by 10...NW by 17.

I just don't know what Mizzou team shows up   13 seem to easy. Makes me look more into Northwestern.

I'm taking the lowly Northwestern team...from what I'm reading here they are severely outmatched and will get blown out, so I'll take them and the UNDER.
 
I think Northwestern DEF is a little better than what most people are giving them credit for and IMO Mizzou is the overrated team that needs to prove they are good. Too much pressure for Chase Daniels and crew. I'm probanly also just tired about hearing about the BIG 12 and what a great league that is...but seems to me all those teams suck playing on the DEF side of the ball. Mizzou will not cover this game because their DEF blows and give up nearly 28 points a game...and I point to one team when making my final descision in making this play. Baylor...who held Mizzou to 31 pts this year while being allowed to score 28 points themselves. This game will have a similiar final score.

I think this game is a blowout...     Both teams are heavily overrated.  I dont know why NW is even ranked.   But I like how everyones premonition of the score is up to mine...   

 

Mizzu 50 some to NW 20 some.

Agent0 i am with you on how the pub is pounding miz but line dropped below a key number 14.5 to 12 that is a huge drop.  Nw might be the play

Despite NW having a strong defense this season I feel that Mizzou will be able to score on their defense. If NW on defense can force Chase to make mistakes the possiblilty of NW scoring on defense can increase the chances of this game going over the total. As far as Mizzou what has always killed them was their inability to stop the passing game and allowing an average of 27 points per game.
 
Mizzou scores an avg of 43 point per game/ Mizzou allows an avg of 27 points per game = 70 points
 
Seems easy but I still need to depend on NW to score and allow Mizzou to score on a tough defense as well.

why would they need to score 35? if they did the total would be 80 points (o/u is 66) and the line is Mizzou -11.5. You did burn alot of brain cells.
