I live in an SEC/LSU region, and get into a disagreement with these folks all the time. I do believe the SEC is the toughest conference to play in. I believe USC can play in the SEC too, and will be the top 4 SEC team every year. Will they be ranked in the Top 5 every year, or win the conference championship every year? Hell no!!!! I prefer Auburn's starting defense over LSU, and I think Auburn defense is quicker and hit harder than LSU, and I cheer for LSU. I believe the SEC has one of the most boring offense in the country, and QB play is subpar compare to most conferences.
I am the most unbiased person my friends and family knows. But more importantly, I love money, and will not bet with the heart.
Onto the real stuff:
Miami was once a powerhouse in college football. They've been in the gutter this 2nd half of the decade. But every time I watch them, I keep thinking to myself, this team is not that bad. They have talent, but no cohesion. And QB play for years have been crap. This year is alittle different. I see them actually focus on playing football, and I didn't see them quit against Florida. They only have one direction to move, and that's up. They select from the same pool of players as Florida.
The reason why I believe they have a great shot at winning the ACC, is the same as your statement, "the ACC sucks". It won't take much to win it. The better ACC teams are in the Atlantic division, and Miami only has to worry about Wake Forest, out of that division. Look at the rest of their schedule, it's almost cupcake like. They play pretty much all the tough teams at home.
Virginia Tech is not that good this year, and I don't believe that it's a fluke, or it's too early in the year, crap. The Hokies offense is garbage, and it was last year too. Their defense & special team is the only thing keeping them in the picture year after year. I am not sold on their 3-1 record. I believe that if the Hokies can beat Georgia Tech and North Carolina, than so can the Hurricanes.
Georgia Tech is trying to be like West Virginia, and I strongly believe teams like Florida, South Florida, and Miami have the personnels, and overal team speed to stop this type of offense.
Did you see the other Coastal teams' schedule? They are more likely to get bruised up, then the Hurricanes will. Miami doesn't get into the tough part of their season until the end of November. By then, they will probably be more healthy then their competition. This season's schedule just seem to favor them more, than any other teams in their division.
dwest718: I apologize if I came off as a box, I wasn't trying to be. I don't like to create threads, or have people put their faith in my picks. When I agree or disagree with a pick, I just state my thought at the moment, in other people's thread. I also don't like to do long, informative, posts, but I like to read them, and I actually do my homework before I state something. I did my homework on Miami, prior to the Florida game, and made my forecast on their season from it. That is what I base my assumption on. If they don't come true, than screw me. But I was quick to say that they will stomp Texas A&M and they did. I'm not saying that they will be back to the old glory days, this year, but they are going in the right direction
I believe this is a revenge game for Miami, even though I hate believing in that kind of stuff. They will pounce on the Tar Heels this week, and continue rebuilding their program back to where it was.
And incase they blow this game, I like to apologize in advance, if I might have persuaded anyone to take them in this game. I don't like to cause other people to lose money because of me, that's why I only play roulette at the casino
