thoughts from Week 2
still in shock with myself for betting Tennessee, I got caught drinking SEC kool-aid and paid the price, the Ducks fell behind and looked bad early, got pissed and started pouring it on the Vols, they had way too much speed for the Vols and I knew going into halftime that my bet was basically done, once an offense like that starts going then it is hard to stop, I think you have to be a physical team like Alabama or Ohio St to control the clock by running the football to keep the Duck offense off the field, despite not being the best team in the country the Ducks are very exciting to watch
Florida State was humiliated, it honestly looked like Landry Jones was playing in a scrimmage game, I have no problems admitting what a bad call the Noles were, I kind of smiled and shook it off early, it was never in doubt, the Sooners were playing an inferior team in all aspects (that includes coaching)
Bill Stewart and WVU looked really bad against Marshall for a long time but I liked what I saw late from Geno and I think the Neers have a great chance to win at LSU on Sept 25th, I like the way they matchup against the Tigers and will be betting them in that game, hopefully Maryland will play them very close this week and give me extra value in my line against the Tigers, an nice LSU win over Miss St would certainly only help matters
I am very impressed with the defense of South Carolina thus far, I never pictured a Spurrier team being a physical smash mouth type of team but that is what the Cocks are, I think Georgia is better than they played should play well at home this week against a much less physcial team in Arkansas, the Hogs offense doesn't appear to clicking on all cylinders yet and I like the Dogs to beat them this week in Athens
USC is a mess and I'm proud of the Cavs for playing toe to toe with the Trojans out in Cali, I honestly thought they were in trouble heading out West but they didn't have those same thoughts, I'm not sure what Kiffin is doing but the Trojans just look shaky all around, that being said, they should still handle the Gophers with relative ease
Iowa looks good thus far even though their QB needs to get rid of the ball much quicker, they have an interesting trip to Zona this weekend and I'm undecided what I think about that game, might be a low scoring game though (even though I don't play many totals)
I was all set to bet Washington as a dog to Nebraska this week and then I saw some the Syracuse tape, the Huskies are hyped as a much improved team but I'm not seeing it yet, they are just an average team right now in my opinion
UCLA is a joke, Stanford is solid
Va Tech losing basically assures that Boise St won't play for a national championship provided other big time programs finish with only 1 loss, I don't know what Beamer is doing but it is time to replace him, he has been getting outcoached for years now and nobody seems to talk about it, when is the last time Va Tech was top notch program that scared anyone? Beamer Ball is a thing of the past and his teams aren't disciplined, time to go Frank unless having 3-4 loss teams every year is now acceptable in Blacksburg
East Carolina was an easy cover this week against those Memphis doormats, what a joke that program has become, the Pirates are fun to watch but I don't like their chances against the more physical Chokies, despite Va Tech being trash I think they will beat the Pirates
SMU didn't play well but they got a nice cover for me as well, now 2-0 with the Ponies and my love for June Jones continues
Hawaii almost managed to blow a big lead and lose to the non athletic Army cadets, but they didn't and we both won, thanks Hawaii, I'm not 2-0 with you on the young season and becoming more a fan
I'm tired, more thoughts later
