I'm leaning more towards the over here......i'm a diehard hokie (graduated from there), and usually only play totals in their games. My justification is that i can easily see tech putting up 28+ whether its through the offense, special teams or defense. Thursday nights in Blacksburg are something else, and Bibendi, you'd be crazy not to go. To me, this game has all the makings of the 55-6 game against MD on thursday night back in '04, different teams..yes, but IMO with 12 days to prepare and Tyrod's performance in the 4th quarter against GT, I disagree with ya Bibendi and the playbook will be open....there are alot of fustrated members of the hokie nation out there and Stinespring job is at stake for the reminder of this season.
The trend of every thursday night game Tech has played in since that MD game in '04 (two thursday games a year) being under 40 total doesn't support my lean, i realize that.....but i do also know that Beamer is known to pull is 1st string defense....he did it against Miami and he did it against BC, both scored second half touchdowns. I easily see the crowd creating atleast one defensive score and wouldn't be surprised to see hosley take one to the house on special teams. Tech gets up big early in the first half...and sits guys in the second half.
To many intangibles favor tech in a blowout with some late game trash touchdowns by the heels to cover the total:
Hokies 35
Heels 14

Waddup Bib! I have a feeling VT gets off to a bad start in this game. That's not to say they don't win this game, maybe by double digits, but I think they will be climbing out of the hole and if they are down in the beginning then I see potential for points to go up pretty quick.
I'm thinking 31-17
Best of Luck

VT and Under PARLAY... if VT covers this spread, it will be because of UNC's inability to score.... +260 is a much better payout then -110 if you just took the UNC TT under

No margin for error on the Under Side. In my opinion, the line is pretty sharp.
Things going for you as a n under backer:
-Barth is a decent kicker at best. 10/15 last year. 7/10 this year. If VaTech plays the type of defense they have with this anemic offense, NC could get shutout. -Blacksburg is a bitch of a place to visit, esp. under the lights. - Va Tech's Red Zone defense has allowed 6TDs on 22 visits.
Things against you. - VaTech has 3 Special teams Tds already this year, and 1 Defensive TD. - NC's Defense was absolutely shredded exactly one week ago in the exact same position. -NC managed to score 27 points last week, when many pointed to their lack of offense vs Virginia and GA Tech.
This O/U line is too tight for me. I think I will sip a cocktail and see just how bad the Hokies bring it to em tomorrow. 38-10.

Bib- I usually have a pretty good read on these types of games but, this V.T team has been hard to get a feel on...( On Totals ) I don't think UNC has a bad defense by no means.. I just think they got a little exposed by a great QB..Which BTW...I think ponder is one of the best QB's in the nation. I just don't think UNC can Score on V.T AT LANE Stadium. If UNC scores more than 10 I will be surprised...
This is one of those games where both large chalk and a low total may cover in the same night...I just don't feel comfortable playing the Under here...But I do like it more than the Over...
V.T 27 UNC 6

If you think NC will score less than 10 points then the parlay is the way to go. But do you realize the odds of a Division 1 football team scoring less than 10 points in a game? It's a bad bet no matter what you say.

I'm leaning more towards the over here......i'm a diehard hokie (graduated from there)as did I, graduated in '07....a more knowledgable and passionate fan you will not find, and usually only play totals in their games. My justification is that i can easily see tech putting up 28+ whether its through the offense, special teams or defense.Everyone knows that the Hokies are capable of scoring TD's in every facet of the game and come to expect them Thursday nights in Blacksburg are something else, this is the absolute truth and Bibendi, you'd be crazy not to go. I've actually decided not to make the trip. This is my first Thursday Night game missed since 2002. His job has been at stake since the moment he stepped in. The only problem is Beamer is too loyal to his coaches to pull the plug on a failed experiment. Beamer is a terrible head coach. Wonderful figurehead and great with special teams, but with Foster leading this team we would never have lost to GT. I say this for a few reasons. GT could not stop us. However, as usual in a game Beamer coaches...he decided he wanted the defense to win the game and the offense not to lose it. It was beyond pathetic the offensive gameplan he schemed up with Stinespring. I almost threw up at halftime b/c I knew that our D could not hold up all game with the way our offense was keeping them on the field. Stinespring cant coach to save his ass and even if he tried to open up the playbook he would fail

Not to mention, I think our 2nd string defense would look like the '85 Bears against this pathetic UNC offense....he did it against Miami and he did it against BC, both scored second half touchdowns. I easily see the crowd creating atleast one defensive score and wouldn't be surprised to see hosley take one to the house on special teams. Hosley runs backward on every return and is lucky to ever gain a yard on a disciplined special teams unit Tech gets up big early in the first half...and sits guys in the second half.

First of all, thank you for the post. I have ran through your post with my random thoughts. I just dont see how you can make a play expecting the backdoor. Youre entire argument is based on the fact that the Under is the correct play. And then at the very end you say....but Tech will give up some garbage points to send it over....you very well may be correct. But that is a horrible way to cap a game. If the Hokies keep the ball on the ground then this one will stay under. I think Williams runs for 150+. UNC will not be able to sustain drives. They may hit a few big plays, but if you want to give me UNC TT Under 20 it would be my largest play of the season

That makes 29-49 this season and a 4-6-1 mark on the Specials. That was the best record keeping I could come up with after sifting through the penalty box and ridiculous amount of bullshit in my threads. So if someone wants to verify its worse than that and check everything I will believe them
Very, very pathetic mark so far
Would like to break even before the season is over

ACC football is all over the place. Wouldn't shock me if UNC won. Not saying I'd bet on it... but there's no telling. Especially since VT doesn't have anything to play for except a non-BCS bowl game bid.

I agree with the under. UNC was very fortunate last week with FSU turnovers. VaTech defense is decent enough to contain UNC to 10-13. Liking VT, leaning VT n Under.
