Just didn't think I'd have to contend with it being this bad.Right off the bat they don't start Kemp? What? He's the guy who won you three games. Two series wasted to start the game. Then the conservative game planning. They couldn't wait to punt trying to pin Temple every series? What? Their defense is not good enough for that. Well Temple took advantage one real drive and made them pay. Numerous chances to go up 17-10, 21-10. Temple deserves to be ranked now. Not sure how they'll ever win @ ND so I expect that line to be 10/11ish at least.Trophy goes to jeffmarket for taking the first half because the second half was a disaster.BWS, you're not clairvoyant. They blocked kicks. Ok. You're basically saying if they F up, they'll lose. That's not a amazing call. That's pretty much every single game ever played...And their third down percentage was pretty good.Anyhow, I know a lot of people tailed and this is where you jump off the bandwagon. That is fine. Watching ECU play tonight would make me jump too. Unfortunatley, I may have to back them again later in the year, but I'll reconsider that. Not sure how this team hung with Florida...Will probably have an NFL or NCAA game this weekend and the write up won't be long. No need. This one took more than enough research and typing time on this slow as molasses site just to lose in the end.Congrats to Temple and all their backers (Wahoo).

Ruffin McNeil. Terrible. He let his locker room pick his starting qb tonight. #8 linebacker from temple can play.

They missed two field goals, dropped 15 easy long passes. East Carolina's coach obviously didn't teach tackling as they missed about 20 tackles. This was just a sloppy game. I lost 2200 on it. I tried to put 4200 on it but my bookie wouldn't let me...thank God. What a disaster of a night. Still covering the whole entire game. Then the idiot running back just fumbles on 1st down when their driving. Essentially cost them the game. Temple is the better team & they;re 7-0, East Carolina has a terrible coach who obviously doesn't teach discipline or make in game adjustments. Simply brutal.
You don't even know how to interpret a game. Kemp is terrible??? 31-48 for almost 300 to a below average receiving core? He's not great by any stretch but I'll roll with him when my money is on the line with ECU.Temple is the better team and should have rolled??? They were outgained. Lost in time of possession. Had an atrocious 4-13 conversions on 3rd down and basically lost every meaningful statistical category. One of the field goals they tried was a 52 yarder when the guy's previous long was 40. They didn't take the lead from 3-0 until 5:30 in the 4th....and they should have...rolled....Yes...he just said that. What's brutal is your interpretation of the play on the field. ECU was bad...but Temple was worse. They capitalized on turnovers and came up big late. End of story. But they also played an even worse game than ECU for 3.5 quarters.

Take it easy. The guy lost 22x what you did tonight. No moral victories in gambling. Cut slack.

And his last two drives to get his team back into the game, he takes a sack & can't get away somehow. Terrible grounding call. Then throws a screen about 10 MPH. You also must've missed the 10+ drops Temple had that went right through their hands. ECU's secondary got exposed tonight plain & simple. ECU shut down the run, Temple's coach made adjustments, ECU's didn't. I don't care about the yardage. ECU outgained Temple by 300 last year & still lost by 10 because they're not a disciplined team. That's on the Head Coach.
Excuse me. He completed 31 passes and over 60% to below average receivers.

This is ECU. This isn't OSU. You know what you are getting with ECU. You know what recruits will go there. You work with what you have and to call him terrible is a ridiculous assessment. He did everything he needed to do to win this game and it was lost by the conservative play of the coach trying to pin Temple every single time they punted in addition to special team's botches (and a bad secondary. And you can call them bad, they are. But that was known going in.).

@Elia - . Do you think EVERY  single write-up someone makes will win? If it did, I'd be living at the Bellagio.

@Win - Just a terrible job by ECU. Didn't like the game plan whatsoever... Awful. They played to lose and did.

Cut slack.
    Lol.

Anyhow, he doesn't even know how to assess a loss, period. Blaming it on the starting QB??? I wonder if he even watched the game.

I have no problem with the pick. I like guys that go on record with what they think about a matchup BEFORE the game. You did that...kudos.

The bottom line is that some guys play with credit...and they play big, because the money isn't real. Putting 2200$ on Ruffin Mcneil? And laying points? Garbage wager. But, I respect the balls.

Scal, some of the guys on here play for bigger dollars than you do....in all honesty, I would wager that you don't bet much at all. I think that the write-ups, the picks, and the glory of being "right" are your juice. Not sure about that, but I would bet you don't bet much. No where near 2200$ on a Thursday night.

That is a monster swing.......from being right and +4200 and 0. Wow. Would have rather had 2200 on Utah ML, or even Syracuse ML...at least if you win the others, you get paid. Ouch.

In any case, congrats on your run, but you are 1 for your last 3.

Glad i went Temple. Good-luck next time ECU backers, something for ECU in this game matchup didn't seem right and a lot of trustworthy computer models had this game pegged. To OPIE, ECU may have never trailed against Towson, but Towson was most definitely still in the game all way till end.

why are people so excited about this game?  Scal has gone like 9-2 or 9-3 in his last 12 picks and he gets ripped for losing?

some of you fkn person won't even start a thread because you're gutless bitchez, man up and put yourself out there by posting a thread full of your Saturday plays and lets see what you got (that's what I thought, most of you will only kick a man when he loses)

I had Temple tonight and they covered the spread, big deal, it's one game out of the whole season

some of you are what makes a forum awful at times, I would love to line you all up and smash each one of you in the face, a bunch of whiney broke retards

Scal- keep doing your thing bro, don't even respond to these losers

Glory? From anonymous degenerate gambling men with avatars of women in barely there bikinis...

Yes, give me all that glory baby. That is the reason for my existence.

And we're going to get in a di** swinging match about units here? Again? Do you know how many times I've been challenged with that? No I did not have $2200 on the game. My typical unit is like everyone else: $100. And I had several on this game. And I lost.

And $2200 on ECU was not a bad bet BEFORE kickoff. 2 wasted series to start the game and again, again, again....the coaching. It was all there for the taking. Temple played horrifically at times as well, looking worse than Tulane for several series. Hindsight is always 20/20 so to say this was a 'bad' bet after it lost...please.

1 for 3??? God, here comes the "what have you done for me lately" crowd in full force with Vern on horseback, torch in hand.

Folks if you post on this site and fail to win every pick, get ready. You'll get a pass for one loss, but two? They'll come for your head...

This one hurt Wahoo and now I REALLY want to go after a game on Saturday that has an outstanding spread (this game did not have a great spread) but I have to deal with a subpar QB. Ah well.

I really liked this spot for ECU. It had all the ingredients I wanted except for that shi**y secondary. I went back and watched the BYU ECU game tonight and my god, they didn't stop them a single time on passing plays. 1st down 1st down 1st down TD TD TD. Should have really watched that game closer instead of focusing on their razor thin loss. I probably would have backed off this pick.

Get them next time Scal !!!

Nice breakdowns of the game, only ECar couldn't finish 4 quarters. Luckily I took them 1H also, same as the Nebraska play last week.

I would take them 9 out of 10 times given the factors around the game and no doubt it would be profitable.

Looked like a great play based on the write-up. I was in for couple dimes.  I guess rule #37 should be "don't bet against undefeated, disciplined team catching points".  In it until the very end.  Give us one more before Saturday if possible.  You're right, there are no easy ones out there. Good luck.

I've never posted on this site before, but have followed and checked it regularly through out football season. And have followed Scal,Mega, Train,Wahoos, Davidn, and used their picks a lot . Im not a big bettor , small $50, $100 a game but I have made money several times following these guys when I couldn't make my own decision. And Scal's write up are enjoyable as well are Mega's. Thanks Scal...

I love how the people come in to bash AFTER the game. LOL.  Worthless punks.  You know who you are.  Spineless and weak, using the internet to get your nuts out of your vaginas!!  LOL.

ECU isn't that great.  Knew that going in, but thought they were the right play.  It was close, but Temple made LESS bad plays, and won the game fair and square.  Loss is a loss, move on.  Happened to be on it too (coincidentally) and don't regret it.

Thanks for the input on the game Scal, I agree with most of it, just didn't come to fruition.

For what it's worth- Scal is my favorite capper in the forum. What a bunch of haters just waiting to pounce on a wrong pick. 9-2 is a great record and Scal goes out of his way to share his thought/conclusion process. You haters need to do your own homework and skip the negative feedback. Unbelievab;e?

Love all these Net-twits with under 1000, hell, 500 posts, or aren't even on here a year, blasting Scal.........

When you bet a large number on somebody else's recommendation, THAT'S ON YOU.

You wouldn't even have thought about this game if you hadn't read this thread.

If you really thought Temple was all that, then do something crazy. BET TEMPLE.

You read all the things Scal wrote, and don't disagree, what can you do? I mean, on the face of it, it does seem odd. Temple getting points. Ranked team getting points. But Scal (and this could BE ANYBODY) lays out the following before he even tells you the bet-

    • Hey, my record is this.....9-1 L10
    • I use a situational style (this should sound an alarm in your head if you don't even know what this is)
    • I follow X-teams, and feel I know them pretty well

You WILL NEVER hear Scal say/write

"I'm doing so well in this division, I'm gonna venture into the Pac-12"
"Since this team has lost 4 straight on Thursday, I'm gonna go with......"-this could be ANY team. Scal does not even think of teams he does not have a connection with.
"The one stat that stands out to me, is that yards per pass attempt on third downs, while being down anywhere from 7 to 11 points is really........." It's not all about Stats w/Scal. It's more than that.

    Two last things:

    1. If you disagree, could you have the g*ddamn common courtesy of voicing your opinion before kickoff? If you don't like something that is being pointed out, could you, somehow, come up with a contrarian point of view? A lean? An angle? Something?
Jim Rome is famous for "have a take, and don't s*ck" You can s*ck here. NOBODY wins all the time. Just have a take. You like Temple's defense-GREAT-SAY SO! You think beating Penn State was a great win-SAY SO!

    2. I'm sure many of you are going "Gee, Hawk, why are defending Scalabrine? Didn't you blast him in the ****** thread?" I don't agree with Scalabrine on some things. You could call him names that would fit me also. Other things, we are opposed to.
But, I just cannot look at something/someone and say "Golly. We don't agree on Treyvon Martin, so this guy......."
