East Carolina wins easily. 34-13. Temple doesn't belong on the same field. Temple is pure garbage.

    Appreciate all the posts above.

Melos, thanks for appreciating the Rex reference. I worked hard on that one.

Vern, it might be close. Temple will fight to keep their perfect record but in the end ECU will prevail. But if ECU gets out ahead of them, Temple is not a dynamic high scoring team and will have trouble catching up, especially while leaning on their run game.

Rovin, it is not the easiest. But what is? Last week Kansas loses by 10 getting 32 from Texas Tech (a game that looked the easiest). These are all tough games.

PJ Walker is 'decent'. Definitely not draft material.

I just heard on the behind the bets podcast that ESPN FPI rankings have Temple as a 4 pt favorite. Wonderful, just what I wanted to hear! This is why rankings and sabermetrics and any systems cannot decipher what is really going on on the field of play more than the human mind can. If anyone saw Temple's last 3 scrimmages (because they were far from actual games), they'd know that. And they would never put Temple in the Top 25 and reward them for beating such lowly competition.

It doesn't concern you that ECU has 2/3 starting O lineman banged up hurt on a short week?  Don't know the status of yet if they are playing!  That is a huge factor to overlook in my opinion!  Good luck with your pick!

It's rlly strange...Vegas could easily set this line at pk or even temple -2.5 -3 and ppl would still bet on temple yet they make ecu a 3 pt fav. So on neutral field..both teams are even? I know temple is chasing history. Someone did mention ecu o line being injured.. my book has ecu -3 at +111...

FWIW, Phil Steele current power ratings have Temple -6....adjust down to -3ish for the field.

Not real big on power ratings (PS's are pretty close to the linesmakers) , unless they involve top-tier squads.

Scal's line read here is correct.... the line begs people to grab Temple and the points.

Usually, on a Thursday, it is bait.

That being said, I am keeping my powder dry and waiting to see how this line shapes up by kickoff...have a hunch that ECU may be available as +ML play.

Also, In-game situations may give a guy a shot at ECU @ +money.  GL to all.

Never Make A Winner A Loser. Never.

I bet 2200 on Philly last night w/ bookie. Debating on letting the 4200 ride on ECU here. 27-20..

Why only 4200? Make it 10 or 20K

I do know what that means? What does it mean? That Vegas knew I'd have a write-up where about 1% of all covers posters say "Nice work, I'll bite" and therefore Vegas is gonna collect from the 30 some posters in this thread??? Is that what it means?

    @double @bk @cuse @chris

@vern -thx. I will be floored is ECU is +money before kickoff.

@pure - No. Every single team in the FBS has injuries at this point in the year. Nkemdiche on Ole miss will likely miss the game vs. TexasA&M and Vegas still made Miss a 6 pt favorite, meaning the most dominant defensive player in all of CFB Is worth about...1 pt.

Great write up opie and i can see and understand why lean ECU, but you did methodically go through the Temple schedule, but failed to do same with ECU. You do realize ECU neatly lost to Towson?

I'd like to say that Temple (on paper) should be able to win or lose this game on a FG. Yet thee games get truly wacky loaded with errors, miscues--last year 5 fumbles by Ea Car in a 20-10 loss at Temple. I was impressed by both teams on tv,

No, I am not saying Temple lays down here (although I do not trust Temple football, or any northeast program near Philly and NJ). Yes, it is proven there are bad influences and player access to these campuses and a very active organized crime syndicates that periodically raise sums of cash for payouts and "expenses." (I don't care if you don't believe--it is your problem in the end)
But they have a sure loss at ND next week, so when the going gets tuff tonight, do they fight through this to preserve the undefeated mark? Or what does it really matter to have 1 loss compared to 2? Even undefeated and beating ND only puts them into the 'gabocracy' of the playoffs, but does not earn them a spot in the playoffs. Its all for not.

No need to compare this game to Utah vs USC. In this conference (and the SEC and Big Ten) you can count on scores being very tight at the end of games, without instability of blowouts, more so than in these mid majors. Don't believe me I don't care.

I have a small bet they fail here. But I am kind of hoping they prevail. Next week is a MAX BET to lose game and cover vs Notre Dame. If they win here, I might get a few points less on the spread ND -11???

    Appreciate the reaponses above

@relax - come on man. We've been through the Donnie Brasco talk already.

@nopcme - sorry, they didn't almost lose to Towson. They were up 28-13 in the 4th and Towson had a late TD to make it 28-20. They never trailed.

Compare this to temple trailing in the 4th to UCF at home.

Let's also compare Temple's schedule with a very competitive game with Florida at Florida losing by a TD. And losing with 11 seconds left to BYU at BYU.

They really handed it hard to Virgina Tech (nice little win) and completely dominated the a team in Tulsa which produces some of the most ypg in the country (shutting them out until the 4th).

Now go look at Temple's schedule and you'll see a pedestrian Penn State team and a nice win over Cincy going away. And that's all they've done because the scheduling has been perfect for them. ECU is a flawed team. You'll see they will turn the ball over and make some boneheaded plays. But they've played some real competition and are ready for a nice revenge spot against a team that made their season spiral out of control last year. Not gonna let it happen two years in a row. And they get to do it in prime time on ESPN at home (always a nice motivator and results in a big raucous student body turnout).

I took Temple.  Coaching mismatch like we had in Minn vs Purdue.  McNeil is 7-20 straight up vs winning teams and just a tad better ats.  Last year ECU outgained Temple by like 300 yards and still lost by 10 lol.
