Well, I had Syracuse last week against Cal so apparently I enjoy pain. That game was about as ugly as Syracuse could possibly play. Three INTs, 15 penalties, horrible discipline, mistakes everywhere. Honestly if they play a clean game they probably win and cover, but that game exposed some pretty obvious weaknesses too.
Now they go to Pittsburgh on a short week against a defense that is playing extremely well. Pitt is giving up something like 25 yards a game on the ground right now and just held UCF to 20 rushing yards and 7 points.
I’m sure Syracuse cleans up some of the garbage from last week. They almost have to. But this feels like a much tougher matchup to me
Pitt can score enough and I just don’t see Syracuse having sustained success against this defense for four quarters. Wouldn’t shock me at all if this one ends up being 20+ by the time it’s over.
And yes, this is coming from someone who actually likes Syracuse. Unfortunately.
