I don't think any credibility is lost. Pelini hasn't done shit yet. Comparing Pelini to Beamer is more of a crediblity risk. Frank Beamer is 176-90-2 at V Tech.
I realize comparing Pelini to Beamer is a big stretch, but I was referring to the type of coach that Beamer is, not his career numbers, should have been a little more clear I guess. But as long as we're talking about numbers, I'm pretty sure Beamer had losing seasons in 4 of his first 6 at Va. Tech. So even though Beamer is well respected now, he didn't use to be...just sayin that every coach has to start somewhere, and 11-4 isn't too bad of a start.

I jumped on this line as soon as I saw it at -3.5. Somebody needs to explain why this isn't up to a TD already. VT plays Bama and Marshall and Nebraska plays Fla Atl and Ark State and only comes in as a slight favorite? That's a joke. I guess Vegas has to respect the records but...
No sense flappin the jaws on this one. Can't wait to win some on your Hokies. Does VT come out to Enter Sandman every home game or just at night?
Best of Luck Bib. BTW, your better served to not bother getting in a pissing match with the haters. Not like I need to tell you.

Checking in from one state south of Nebraska. They're better. But that's asking a lot for them to get this one on the road.
I'm going with Va Tech.
Maybe if it was a neutral field, like when my Kansas Jayhawks took care of the Hokies in the Orange Bowl? I kid, I kid. I just bring that up to invite all of you to start your wagering Saturday profitably by taking Kansas over Duke. 23 now? I'll be in a casino Saturday, so I can't make the bet until then...
Was that a homer pick by me???

Tideman... i really think both teams have improved significantly since last year's meeting in Nebraska... that game was not close, even though the final score made it look like it was...
couple things to consider: NU is looking impressive because they have covered two games against very weak teams... Marshall would beat either of Nebraska's first two opponents... and VT's game against Alabama has them tuned up and ready to play at a higher level than Nebraska...
the running game for VT is gonna be scary against any team that doesn't have a defense as strong as Bama's... and meanwhile, VT has a stronger defense than the Huskers, even though they are improved...
Blacksburg gets about a 6 pt homefield advantage value... one of the biggest in CFB...
if a lesser VT team (with serious QB issues last year) could romp Nebraska on the road... i feel pretty comfortable laying a small number with a much better team that has resolved those QB issues at home...
just my take...
This is what I have been looking/asking for in regards to this game. My initial thoughts were very similar to yours. I have to admit that the resurging Huskers got me a little worried, but a small number at home makes a lot of sense to me. Even with the early RB injury, I still like the way VATech closed last year against BC and then in the bowl against Cinci, and the way they hung against the Tide. I really want to make this a no play and just enjoy the game, but its looking more and mor elike a game day wager....

If you have been around the college forum AT ALL this summer, you
would know, what that ment. I actually have higher expectations of this
VT team than Bib does. I have 1/2 on them to win it all, 2 Units on
them over 9 wins, and 2 Units on them to win the ACC. So, go walk your
dog into oncoming traffic.
I cant even fuckijh type!!!!!!!!!! You gotta be kiddin me! I DEFINITELY SHAT MYSELF!!!!!L M F A OYou guys are fuckin BRUTAL!!!! LMFAO

haven't read through the thread to see if you did post a write up yet but my eyes shot up and i locked this one in early. i would be on VT anything up to a TD and this line to me seems embarassing to the hokies. -3 in blacksburg? i do see its up to as high as 5 now but i can't see any reason to take nebraska

We have the Hokies and the Huskers in a rematch of last season's game in Lincoln where the Hokies basically embarassed the Huskers in a similar spot to this year. This was one of the few games last year where Tyrod got play the entirety and there is no doubt in my mind we lose this one if Glennon plays a majority of the snaps. No doubt Tyrod has his flaws, but he just wins games. His stats wont look impressive b/c the Hokies O-Coordinator(Stinespring) is a bum. But he keeps plays and drives alive with his scrambling ability. I'm not here to defend T-Mobile though. I am here to explain why I think the Hokies roll in this game. I am going to get away from essay format and give this one in a numbered sequence...
1. The Hokies defense is pretty easy to figure out, hard to stop. They are going to blitz you on almost every play and press your receivers at the line of scrimmage. What does this mean? They are susceptible to the long ball. Kam Chancellor has struggled this year defending receivers deep over the middle and that is going to have to change. Now in this game, I dont see this being a huge factor. In order for the deep ball to work, you have to be able to run against the Hokies. Alabama was successful doing this and it opened up the play action fake. We got killed in this scenario vs. Alabama and led to the game changing TD early in the 4th and honestly, if McElroy was a bit more composed early on, couldve been several huge plays. Nebraska was at home, at night last year in this game and still could not run the ball to save their lives. If you dont run the ball against the Hokies, you dont score. This limits the Huskers ability on offense and prevents the big play.
2. Lane Stadium. For all of you people who have never been to this stadium, make it a must stop at some point in your life. And yes Bracks, they come out to Enter Sandman in every contest. I was listening to the Herd earlier this year when they have a Vegas linesmaker on the show. Herd posed him the question, "Which schools have the biggest home field advantage and by how many points do you weight this?" The Answer? Virginia Tech and Boise St. were tied for the biggest advantage and I can't remember if it was 6 or 6.5 points worth of an advantage. So if you think Nebraska is just going to waltz into this stadium and not be effected you are dead wrong. It is absolutely deafening and the reason the Hokies rank tops in D every year is strongly attributed to their performance at home. Opposing QB's cant even call audibles to their WR's half the time and have to depend on hand signals to relay the message. We all know how well that works over the entire course of the game. To quote RJ Anderson(QB for Syracuse in 2003)..."that place is ridiculous. Those fans think they are playing for the team too." So true.
3. Ryan Williams. The kid is electrifying. He looks better than Kevin Jones did in his freshman year. He has the speed, quickness and vision to be a successful back at any level. Losing Darren Evans was a blessing in disguise. Last year the Hokies ran for over 200 yards on the ground in this contest and they have only improved in this aspect from last year. The offensive line has matured and they were even creating holes against Bama, who I consider to be the top rushing D in the country. I see no reason why Williams doesnt bust a few around the edge. Double keeps referring to how strong Nebraska is up the middle. Who cares? VT runs on the edge and they run well. They have excellent blocking WR's(lets be honest, they ought to be since they are nothing special receiving the ball) and their tight ends seal the edge very well. These backs dont have to run up the middle, although they certainly can.
Running out of space so I'll continue on the next post..

So back to essay format now. I know I have been hitting points about the Hokies and not so much about the Huskers. So as I love to do later in the season, I went back and analyzed Nebraska's games so far to see where they have been dominating and where there is room for improvement..
Against FAU, this was a realllly good game in the 1st half. Couple of 3 and out's before Nebraska took advantage of the field position game and a horrible punt by the FAU kicker. Another couple 3 and out's before FAU put a drive together before getting a kicked blocked by Nebraska. Does anyone really think the Hokies will let a kick get blocked. Nebraska then capitalized on that momentum and hit for a big score. FAU then went to the ground on the next drive and put together a few decent runs before hitting the big play action play down to the goalline. So Nebraska gets the ball back and how do they drive down the field??!! They pass it the entire wayGood luck putting that pressure on your QB in Lane. The halftime score was 21-3 but looking deeper I see everything that I need to see. Nebraska is going to win games this year in the air. Just not this one. So Nebraska comes out in the 2nd half with their big lead and leans on FAU as they break down. I searched through all the offensive plays for FAU and it took until 9 minutes left in the 4th quarter before I found a play where FAU didnt gain atleast 1 yard on the ground. And you dont think the Hokies will run all over them.
The next matchup was against the powerhouse Arkansas St. The Red Wolves on their first possession ran the ball 8 times for 49 years. This is Arkansas St in Lincoln, NE PEOPLE!! How are they going to stop the Hokies ground attack in Blacksburg, VA!! I dont know. The offense certainly put up impressive numbers, but take it with a grain of salt. It is the Arkansas St. Red Wolves. I was hoping to see that Nebraska was able to solve their ground issues, but no. First drive of the 2nd quarter the Red Wolves moved right down the field before fumbling in the Huskers redzone. The reason why Nebraska is blowing these teams away is simply that these teams fall behind early and have to ditch the running game to make a comeback. The success on the ground is there, Nebraska didnt even have an answer for Arkansas St.
Part 3 of this will be how I think the game goes and a score prediction

So all in all, I think even our idiot Offensive Coordinator can see the fact that we need to run the ball, and run it often to win this game. The stats dont lie here. We are going to come out rocking obviously and not let the Huskers feed off of the stupid turnovers these teams they have played so far this season are committing. The Husker offense will have to try to commit to running the ball and I just dont see it happening. They were unable to run last year and this defensive line is just as beastly and probably better. They will have a tough time making play changes at the line of scrimmage and be uncomfortable. Lane Stadium is not where you want to be playing your first road game of the season. They have yet to face any type of adversity and the Hokies have already played in the biggest game of the season to date. I want to believe the Huskers D hangs early, but the Hokies run game is going to wear on them like the teams previously could not. By the 3rd quarter they will be running circles around them. I am capping this game bases on a pedestrian game from Taylor and not even really factoring in a big play in the air out of him. Could get ugly if he plays well.
