3* Iowa +4 over Vanderbilt - The Commodores have been good to me this year, so it kinda feels like I'm cheating on my girlfriend with this play. But Vandy may also feel like a jilted lover being passed over by the CFP committee and Diego Pavia being passed over by the Heisman voters. The 'Dores will be missing stud TE Eli Stowers, their leading receiver, who opted out. Meanwhile, as far as I can tell, the Hawkeyes appear to be virtually intact, a rarity these days for a non playoff bowl game. Iowa has the nation's seventh ranked defense and have had a month to prepare for whatever Pavia will bring to the table. I should've bet this yesterday when I could've gotten +5', but no matter. 20-16, IOWA!

I meant to take Iowa +5.5 -115 early this morning then it went to +4.5 -110. Now I just had to settle for +3.5. And some money line action. Seen it as high as +167 and went to take it at +144 before it gave me +138. GL

Adding a little fuel to my Iowa play. We all know about the Heisman jinx, but I looked at the numbers for the top three Heisman finalists since 2021, and their teams went 5-10 SU and ATS in bowl/CFP games during those years, and NONE of those teams won a title! In fact Joe Burrows was the last Heisman winning QB to lead his team to a title back in 2019. Indiana and Ohio St. are no slam dunk folks! And Vandy is no slam dunk today!

3* Miami FL +8' over Ohio St. - I'm surprised at the line drop here, but if Carson Beck can play clean like he did at Texas A&M, the Hurricanes have a puncher's chance here. He has more big game experience than Julian Sayin, who seemed a bit rattled by Indiana in the Big Ten title game. It can be risky business betting on Mario Cristobal, but it's worth noting that the Canes' last five SU losses, and last ten ATS losses all came when they were favored to win. Here they're a disrespected underdog facing a team that hasn't played in a month, and Ryan Day has been known to blow a big game now and then. Last season all four bye teams lost, and three of those teams featured Heisman Trophy finalists (check out post #83). We already saw Diego Pavia go down earlier today. Could Julian Sayin be next? I'll say, 17-16, Ohio St.
