That makes to much sense for the Selection Committee idiots Train69.

The entire point of the change was not solely to bring human element as they also changed it from 2 to 4 teams (i.e. An actual playoff).   My objection is not necessarily to who they selected its that it's left to a selection process.   Decide it on the field like they do every other sport, including division 2 Fb all.  It is just going to force more teams into the process, as noted by train

If the selection criteria is the same, they would pick two more teams from Penn State-Michigan-Oklahoma-possibly USC. Think anyone might feel shafted?

with 6 teams no team would ever feel shafted!! as long as penn state gets in everyone should be happy... who is probably the 5th best 2 loss team.. yes they have 2 losses for everyone riding on their schlong. and one of those games was by 40 !! they are hot, ONLY beacause they caught literally every team in a bad spot from ohio state on....they dont belong in a playoff setting they werent even the 2nd best big ten team.. they will get skull f@cked by USC which is fitting for a school that enabled pedophiles or decades.
but i do respect JF for being classy and accepting his seat at the kids table where it should be

Except they won it on the field based on the objective paremeters set up by your conference.   nothing subjective about that.   A loss should count as a loss regardless of the score, just like any other sport.   Decide it on the field.   Leave the subjective bs out of it

The OSU scenario is fixed by getting rid of divisions within conferences. Penn St played 2 ranked teams all year and should have been 0-2. Even with lucky OSU win, Michigan drubbing negates that imo.
Clemson got beat up for losing to the same Pitt team that beat Penn St. Take away the OSU game and give me another quality win, before last night.
I think the top 4 are fair. I believe Alabama would have treated Penn St like they did Mich St last year.
While I feel that we can beat Alabama with our A game, I have seen that A game too infrequently to get excited about it. Last year we should have won, but got out coached and out schemed by Saban in the end. That's why he's the best in the business. I just want us to give our best effort. If we aren't good enough, I can take it. The sloppy bs, defensive lapses, and insistence on keeping teams in games until the end gives me less confidence than last year. I will root my behind off for my boys, but I'm not making any grand proclamations based on the season I just saw.

THIS YEAR IS EXACTLY WHY WE NEED A EIGHT TEAM PLAYOFF

I WILL ADD MICHIGAN, OKLAHOMA, PENN ST. AND OKLAHOMA TO THE MIX AND PROBABLY STILL BE CONTROVERSY ON WHO THE LAST 4 TEAMS SHOULD BE IN!! THEN THEY WILL BE CRYING FOR A TEN TEAM PLAYOFF! THE CRYING WILL NEVER END.................

You are completely shortsighted with the measuring stick being if a team beat another team.

The committee was supposed to pick the "best" 4 teams.

    Yes, it is subjective, obviously.

And they believed that on a neutral field, Ohio State is better than Penn State.

Why is this even an argument?

Ohio State would clearly be favored over Penn State on a neutral field.

Anybody that watched that Penn State/Ohio State game at Penn State, no less, knows that Penn State was not the better team and if that game was played 10 games, Ohio State would probably win 8 or 9 times.  That was one of the flukiest wins of the season.

Going by Vegas rating systems, the top 4 should realistically be...

    Alabama
    Ohio State
    Michigan
    Washington

Clemson should not even be in the top 4 if they really were to pick the "best" 4 teams in the country.

Ohio State would be at least a TD favorite to Penn State on a neutral field.  Sagarin even has them as a 10+ point favorite.

Sorry, Penn State.  You lost to Pittsburgh and lost by 39 at Michigan.  You don't "deserve" shitt.  You had one of the luckiest wins of the year at home to Ohio State, which propelled you to a bogus Big Ten Championship game, and you barely won that.  Win that game by 20+ and maybe there's a different story.

"Biggest travesty in sports history" is one of the dumber things said on this forum in quite some time.  You're way better than that, Boom.  GL this bowl season.

    One more thing...

Clemson 0-0 vs top 10 Sagarin teams

Michigan 3-1 vs top 10 Sagarin teams

I honestly don't care that Clemson got in over Michigan because I enjoy watching Watson and that game vs the Buckeyes will be fun, but let's not kid ourselves into thinking Clemson is definitely the better team is just fooling themselves.

    But, Penn State?  Nahhh

I hate Ohio State, but to penalize them because of the structure of the Big Ten standings is really dumb.  Big Ten should not have 2 different divisions.  With 1 division, Penn State would've faced Ohio State and would've most likely been a near TD underdog.  Could Penn State have won that game?  Maybe, but to call them better than Penn State because they won a fluky game at home is just shortsighted and is completely not the point of what the committee was trying to accomplish.  You of all people should understand that.

And you did see that Penn State is a 7 point UNDERDOG to USC in the Rose Bowl?

If that isn't an indicator that Penn State is not one of the best 4 teams in the country then I don't know what to tell you.

Could they and will they beat USC?  Maybe, but that is not the point.  The point is that they are not looked upon by the committee and by Vegas as being one of the best 4 teams in the country.

    Boom-

"They won the worst division in the history of division in the history of college football."

This is the most ridiculous statement that I have ever read- The Florida offense is a joke but this statement just shows your hatred towards the SEC and Florida in general

Penn St. as a 7 point underdog shows that they are not one of the 4 best teams in the country-

The only way to end the arguement is to have 4 huge conferences and only the winner of each goes to the playoff- done!

Dabo and company must be stockholders in General Mills , and eat Lucky Charms every day...because they are as lucky as any team could get, to win the games that they should have lost, in order to make it into the playoff... but I have a feeling that the luck is running out, and that they won't be so magically delicious....when they square off against Urban and the Buckeyes...

In all honesty, I think Clemson is perhaps the 8th best team, but because they only lost the 1 game....( like Ohio State ) that they deserve to be in

The only way is to have 4 huge conferences and then take the winner of each conference.   That is exactly the problem.   The big 10 set up a division system and a champ game, and now the committee is basically disregarding what happened on the field.    No one is arguing that Oh state isn't the better team on paper or that penn state didn't get lucky in their game.   From my perspective, I want a legit playoff based on what happened on the field and not subjective decisions by a group of know nothing's, who change the perameters each year to justify their existence.   If the conference champ doesn't get in then don't play meaningless games or don't have divisions.    A solution should be relatively simple

Penn State won the division because they played Purdue, Iowa, and Minnesota from the West. OSU and UM's conference schedule were much harder. Not to mention the only 2 tough road games they had they lost.

Penn State plays OSU's schedule they have 4 losses... and I am giving them the W @ OSU. They lose 2 of 3 @OU, @Wisconsin or vs Nebraska. Their schedules were not comparable.

The problem is that there's not a set criteria. TCU's resume in 2014 was every bit as good as Ohio State's is this year......but they were left out. All we have is a 4 team BCS (who by the way would have had the same 4 teams as the committee) minus the computers. Nothing except the increase in the number of teams has been good for college football.

TCU's resume wasn't remotely close OSU's this year. TCU's SOS was in the 60's. OSU's is in the top 10.

They will play USC well and that 7 points is about 3 too many to be giving. Take Penn St and the points. USC is at home, so I get it. Penn St is used to dominating front lines, and Wisconsin's is better than USC's front defensive linesmen.

I agree dude. Washington is also going to give Bama mroe of a battle than people expect.

Gotta agree with you here... This tool boom wants penn st in cuz its an easier game for his kitty cats... He acts like hes a God when it comes to college football and sadly some of these people think he is. You cant take anything he says seriously when it comes to anything clemson is involved in because hes the biggest homer ever . the clemson D isnt good this year, and although they have some playmakers on offense and watson is the type of qb that can give bama trouble the tigers will lose by 10+ if watson gives them fits... If he doesnt it will be even worse . i hate bama. But i dont go with my heart . its cute that bum bum bases his analysis off his little heart. But you just cant take this guy seriously. He said the NC last year went down exactly like he said it would, yet he had clemson ml and they needed a meaningless t.d. against prevent defense in final seconds just to avoid losing by DD.

He also said he would never post on here again if clemson lost. Which they did. But i think posting here is the one thing that makes him feel good about himself . and now he has a chance to say " i told you so " if clemson plays bama again and clemson wins... Im just glad thats not gonna happen so we can lose this fuk boy forever after bama bullies clemson For the NC. ( IF they even get past OSU)
