This defensive front, anchored by linebacker Jacob Rodriguez, is an absolute nightmare for a BYU offense that relies heavily on establishing the run. Without a functional ground game, BYU's freshman quarterback, Bear Bachmeier, is forced into a one-dimensional, predictable passing attack against a Red Raider defense that is allowing a staggeringly low 11.5 points per game (3rd nationally). The 22 point margin in the first game is highly attainable here, especially since Tech left considerable points on the field by settling for five field goals on seven red zone trips. With an 11-1 Against the Spread (ATS) record this season and playing for a potential College Football Playoff first-round bye, the Red Raiders have maximum motivation to win and win convincingly today. Expect the defensive dominance to repeat and the Red Raiders to easily clear the 12 point hurdle. Simply put, despite BYU's success they are just completely outmatched in this game, making this my POD Championship game.
