And Bama at UGA 2 years ago.
Kid - my point was Arkansas doesn't run the ball to win games, they do it to keep defenses honest and if they aren't, the CAN beat you in the run game. Arkansas outgained ULM 500 yds to 188 overall - mostly passing because ULM was defending the run & Mallet threw for 300 yards. If Bama tries to rush 8 men, blitz every down, i.e., like they did last year, this group of backs this year will make them pay: that was my point and yes, I did caveat that by saying it hasn't shown necessarily in the Arkansas' YTD rushing stats, just like Bama's defensive pressure/disruption of opposing QBs isn't reflected in their sack statistic, but both are a reality opposing teams have to contend with. That was my point and one that most don't realize about Arkansas because they simply look at the rushing stats and think the Hogs can't run the ball. It's a mistake - hopefully one Bama's DC will make, but I really don't expect that. Bama won't blitz as much this year IMO, but we'll see, if they do, Wingo et al will have a big day....
GWJTF
You might want to go back and watch that game again. Bama NEVER rushed more than 6. I know Mallet probably swears it was 8, but it wasn't. In fact I have never know Saban to ever rush more than 6 in any game. He is not that much of a gambler. He is not willing to expose himself to that extent.

Yep. They only Rushed 3 to 5 ! Seen it last night on College Football experts.

Didn't see that, but I'm pretty sure they rushed 6 a few times. Saban doesn't even rush 6 very often. He is usually just looking to keep the o-line guessing where the rush is coming from. That is really Saban's whole philosophy behind defending the pass. He knows if he can get an effective rush with 4 or 5 guys, and can dedicate 6 or 7 to coverage, then he knows the chance to get intereceptions increases dramatically. That's exactly what he did in the Penn State game.
As Saban always says, he doesn't care about sack statistics. He cares about effecting the QB. What he means by that is effecting the QB to the extent that he makes a mistake. Afterall, what would you rather have, a sack or an interception?

Hey Jimmy,
I am with you on Bama. There is no way I am going against them at this point. Also, I saw someone mention that SEC road blowouts dont happen often. The last one I remember was Bama smoking Stafford, Moreno, and Green at Georgia 2 yr ago. I believe the score was 30-0 at half.
I am just not going to buy that Arkansas can makeup the difference in the trenches with their playmakers. Arkansas's defense still sucks and they wont be able to keep up with this high octane Bama offense.

I agree. Bama has a sick offensive line.

Found a good article below on espn insider. I will paste it. The "he" in the column is in reference to a pro capper in vegas. Just food for thought for those into "trends"
"He likes to go against teams in the second game of back-to-back road games when they have scored 50 or more in the previous game, are matched up against an opponent who did not score 50 and when the road team is not favored by more than 14 points. It's a mouthful, I know. And so specific you'd think it wouldn't yield any results.
The truth is, since 1983, this scenario has happened 78 times. Number 79 is happening this weekend, when Bama travels to Arkansas as a seven-point favorite and is coming off of a 62-point effort at Duke. Arkansas, meanwhile, scored 31 against Georgia last weekend. These factors put it in the sweet spot of the scenario above, a situation in which the dog has gone 59-19. "The best part of that angle is if we get a good defensive team that gives up 13.5 or less on the season, then that 59-19 angle moves to 12-0," Big Al says. "I don't bank on numbers that low, but it's a good reference point. Arkansas is only giving up 11 points per game. Alabama has been the best team in football, but I actually think Arkansas wins this game straight up."

Well, I pretty much hate everything about Georgia. I think they are one of the most undiciplined teams in the country. They are consistently ranked near the bottom in penalties and turnovers every year, and ranked near the top in arrests. I made a vow to myself at the beginning of the year that I would not wager any money on them the entire season because they are too inconsistent to be counted on to cover a spread.
Having said that, I love the Bulldogs this week. This is pretty much an ideal situational play IMO - extremely talented team playing a SEC weakling on the road follow an 0 & 2 start in the conference with a short line and a coach on the hot-seat. The fact that the SEC weakling they are playing doesn't have an SEC caliber QB on the roster doesn't hurt either.
In the end I have decided that I'm more beholden to money than I am to the vow I made to myself. I think Georgia rolls.
Georgia Pick'em for me.

Correct. In fact Javy had 2 of the 3 sacks.

For what its worth, this is a write up from espn the mag about the Bama/Ark game.

COuldnt you make a list of "Dupage" that didnt win as well? Thats the thing I want to know. I want to know every single "Public" bet that won as well.
Sure does look like Alabama has owned the Mallet games the past few years.
