well, i've been with you on all 4 picks so far... but there is no way in hell i am betting on NIU in that game... betting the MAC against BCS schools in a bowl game is a deathknell... if USF wants to win by 30 they will... not sure how motivated they are, but even an unmotivated Bulls team will win the game... TD isn't too much to lay...
Ice4Blood,
I share your sentiments as far as the level of competition. S.Fla.should kill No.Ill. but that hasn't so far in the previous 4 games.Check the numbers. I know, I know different conferences but maybe S.Fla. doesn't even want to showup? After going 5-0, I'm sure they wanted to play in a better bowl but lost 3 of their last 4 games. We'll see what happens, but so far we are 4-0 and I'll take that for doing minimal work.

I think some of you are still missing the point just a bit here....AGAIN I say to you that it has "NOTHING" to do about coaching, the weather, injuries etc....Vegas has all that B.S. figured in the line....There are people on here who write endless paragraphs actually handicapping games to the "nth" degree....And they lose most of the time....I have gone against the 90 percent on espn for years and done very, very well....I know 2 "books" real well, and call them 5 minutes prior to the games and ask them for their "biggest wagers!".....I further ask them if the action is 90 percent one way on these....Invariably, they agree with the ESPN poll....Additionally I tell them to give me a quick buzz if they don't have a piece on one side at any time during the year, and if they need some the "other way!"....This year, doing that, I am 19-3..With ESPN, 4-0!..That's 22-3!....THAT my friends ia ALL that I wager on....Vegas would never care about this because they already have all the action on the public's side....I wager a 'dime' a game....40 years of betting and booking has taught me that 1. YOU'LL NEVER BEAT THEM HANDICAPPING THE GAMES ETC BECAUSE BETTORS ARE BY NATURE FAVORITE PICKERS AND GO WITH THE FLOW..........2....YOU CAN WIN IF YOU HAVE DISCIPLINE AND PASS 80-90 PERCENT OF THE GAMES AND HAVE A SYSTEM.....By the way, only 6-8 percent of football bettors win for the season....Those that do show a profit again, may only wager 20 or so plays a year, and they have a "system!"....BY THE WAY, MY SON RUNS A BOWL SHEET EVERY YEAR, AROUND 30 PEOPLE, AND HIS 90 PERCENTERS COINCIDE WITH ESPN'S ALL THE TIME....."MONEY IN THE BANK!"......Lastly, I sure to hell hope that most of you know that this gambling on sports is NOT sports, but rather a big BUSINESS!!!!.

luckychuckie you hit the nail on the head!!!! I myself was one of the sucker bettors who would roll with the public because everyone can't be wrong, right?? Man, I would do HOURS of research to pick the best side and in the end they would be a heavy favorite and get knocked out!! This year I set out just to make my limited plays and kept it moving. Sure I would peek in and see what people were writing but in the end I made my own selections. College was fun, taking double digit dogs, in conference play where the point differential in offense and defense favored the dogs! (One play per week). O/U plays where both offenses averaged OVER 30 points and gave up 21 or better where the total was set at 60 or less.(2 plays a week). NFL, line moves where the home team became a dog. (10 plays the WHOLE season). NBA, where a team is getting 7 or better (3 possesions) yet they average more per game than the favorite! There are plenty of ways to win money but you have to set your goals and be disciplined!! How many days did i want to win the 1pm game, then the 4pm game and finally the 8:30pm game in the NFL?? Come on!! 3 wins in 1 day!! Who am I, Nostradamus??!! Just set a game plan and move forward with it.

Good thread! Interesting stuff and I think it's system that would work. Seems to be doing well for you. I'll be with you on No. Illinois today. South Florida just happens to be aweful against winning teams and you know Northern Illinois will come out wanting to prove that they can hang with the big boys. Both things that make me feel even more confident in the pick.
GL today!

mleavers2000,
luckychuckie hit it on the nose. Limited plays and wisely go against the public. Especially TV games. and I agree with you on South Florida. They probably could care less about this game and NIU wants to show it can play with the big boys. I'll take the 7 pts.
Also the point why I started this thread is because for me, I limited my plays to what I would wager on and not try to get all 34 bowl games right!! I made a plan and have stuck to it. Can't lose money even of I go 0-3!! So I have built a nice cushion!!

nc1capper, thanks for the kind words. My theory though was to take all the "hard work" out of the equation!! Points for, points against, home stats, away stats, warm weather stats, cold weather stats......enough already!! You need a mathematics degree to break down the numbers!! I'm taking a short cut and it working so far. Good luck the rest of the way!!

It is great to meet a kindred spirit. When I try to explain going against the consensus most people think I,m crazy
I agree. I used to think there was some magical formula to winning. I only use this "against the public" for the bowl games because there are so many games and most people pick the "big name" schools. Just having fun with it. Good luck to you.
