Did anyone see the Penn State Coach try to ice the Georgia State kicker up 56-0 w/ 11 seconds left?

The "good guy" Franklin who comes in after the Paterno scandal sullied his rep a bit here...

One could ask why would Georgia State would even attempt a FG with 11 seconds left and not throw a hail mary instead??..yeah just to get cheap points on the board to prevent a shutout too just like penn state was. If Georgia State was not going to treat the end of the game as garbage time and let the clock run out, why should Penn State give up? Yeah its college football, but still one way to look at it is at the end of the season, 56-0 still looks good on paper for Penn State regardless of it being Georgia State when the college playoff selection comes around.

Georgia State was in the wrong here. Trying for cheap points just to break the shut-out. Glad Franklin tried to shove it up their azz

I get it.  He's sending a message to his team to play until the clock hits zeros.  I can't stand the guy, but he's gotten that team back to national prominence faster than anyone thought he could.

Yes, I've seen it.  No team wants to get shut out.

Oregon threw the ball into the endzone with about 10 seconds left, up a few scores, then ran one more play after the incompletion.  Wyoming coach almost had an anuerism on the sideline.

I guess you missed the gadget play they ran vs Akron in the 4th quarter up 45 in their 1st game

Franklin talked about it in a press conference and said that he wasn't evening thinking about the kicker.... they had the 4th team defense out there who has never even practiced field goals....he called time out to get his 2nd team field goal unit out there....still looks pretty bad though....

He said the Pitt game was like beating Akron. He has no respect for any coach and Narduzzi beat Clemson last year. Guy thinks his chet don't stink.

Georgia State opened -3 road favs at Charlotte after getting smashed.

Almost makes me want to bet them on pure principle.

I've watched a couple Charlotte games, pretty awful team.

Spread is -1 now

I had the under in the game and I can't say I loved it, but it worked out in the end...An assistant coach had to physically calm down the WYO head coach, who is an old school guy.

Both those teams should be in FCS. 2 of the worst 10 teams in country easy. Charlotte may be the worst though. It's a flip. With s*** teams like that a hideous pick, fumble, special teams play dictates game. Hard to cap those awful teams lol.

He said that and that every game is their super bowl, akron included and georgia state that week.  media gave you just a part of his presser for a story.  this week iowa is their super bowl and they have 12-4 super bowls per year while Pitt has 1, psu, which is true.  Narduzzi taunted psu last year after win.  understand the rivalry and context of quotes.

first thing is his team got screwed out of playoffs last year, i would be furious too and do everything i can to impress the morons who make those decisions who clearly don't watch games and put way too much weight in pre-season rankings which is the dumbest thing in sports to me.  secondly, it was a sandusky scandal, unless joe paterno was raping kids on campus that i didn't know about because even sandusky didn't do that according to his not guilty verdict for psu campus/locker room rapes.

Uhh, 4 the luv, hate to break it to you but Sandusky Senior was found guilty of 45 counts of sexual molestation.

On top of that his son just pleaded guilty to 12 counts.

And as for Paterno, he did not commit the act. And knowing of the act is not committing the act in any way. But he knew of the act. That is what we know. And I'll leave it to others to render their judgement on that.

But this isn't about Paterno. It's about Franklin and what was, imo, a bush league icing of the kicker against a team that was a glorified sacrifice.
