Gotta win in the trenches and not lose the TO battle, it's an easy game, right!?
Oregon had 3 quick, devastating TOs out of the gate against Indiana, game over. Miami's big, talented offensive line has to win tonight and I think they do, opening holes for Fletcher, keeping the ball, setting up play action, not turning itover. Indiana is like the military academies, they don't make mistakes, they don't beat themselves. If Miami commits just one more key mistake than Indiana, they probably don't win tonight.
Bain and Mesidor on the Canes defense have to play big, huge, they must get pressure on Mendoza, make him play under duress, difficult for the best NFL QBs. They're capable and may be the most athletic defensive duo Indiana has faced. Indiana protection, or lack thereof, will be paramount to their offensive success or failure.
I remember the Orange Bowl in 1984 when Miami was a big underdog against a top ranked, undefeated outstanding Nebraska team and pulled out the win on a missed extra point play by the Huskers, a 31-30 Canes victory and National Championship. Similar circumstances, a little deja vu perhaps?
I had Oregon against Indiana, I found myself questioning everything I had ever learned about sports betting afterwards, some games will put you in your place. Call me a glutton for punishment but I'm riding with Miami, betting they don't make the key mistakes and don't lose the TO battle because if they do, Indiana will win.
