Do you give any thought to bowl history?  I found it interesting that SDST hasn't been to a bowl by my count in 12 years (a 20-13 loss to UNC which appeared to have no line).

They appear on paper to be a strong selection, but the programs' lack of experience in these sitautions bothers me some. 

Does any of that BS hit your radar screen for a second?

 

In short, it does.

SDST is basically a bowl rookie, and Navy has not only been there done that - they do it very well.  In fact, all of the service academies do well when they make a bowl game covering the last 23 out of 32, and going 17-3 in that run against better teams (with win percentages of .600 or better).

So while I don't ignore any of that, I still have to trust my numbers and my line.  My "gut" line was SDST -8, and my numbers line was SDST -7.  This mostly has to do with SDST adjusted expected yards per play having an advantage on both offense and defense.  Navy's passing defense is suspect, and SDST should exploit it, this is strength against weakness.  As always, SDST will have to stop the triple option - but with the time to prepare and Hoke leading the preparation - I think they will maintain it.

I see SDST putting up 35 pts +, and I just dont think Navy can score at that rate.  I dont see SDST being stopped very often, and barring turnovers it should be a 42-28 type of game.

And btw - SDST can now be had at -3.5, and maybe -3 by gametime....

I want to watch this game tonight, but I dont have a bet on it and now that I see Mark May and Lou Holtz are doing the game, its either watch on mute or just ignore.

Maybe a HT bet if I see something - but I cant bet on either Lvl or S Miss to start this one....

S Miss today is exactly why I didnt make a wager on them, even though I leaned to them.  They do everything they can NOT to win.  They should be killing LVL today.

Im glad I sat this one out.

Sitting this one out may end up being the correct choice indeed,, but by far your most important and winning pick on this game was muting this broadcast crew,,,,    

 FN' BRUTAL!!!!!   I swear,after listening to Holtz butcher the english language, I'm heading straight to the bathroom  and grabbing my old ladys' make up mirror.  I will then spend upwards of a hour retraining my mouth to pronounce all words I've taken for granted for 40+ yrs...

Thats not even bring into play the atrocious anyalisis,,,,   all this crew was missing was that bucket of hair,,, Pam Ward...

Very rarely can you say that you were exactly right in predicting a game, and Lord knows I rarely am - but I had this SMiss / LVL game pegged.

I wouldnt have even leaned towards smiss if not for the 3 points, and I kept telling myself to lay off of them for precisely the reasons we saw on the field today.  Outgained them by a ton, but lose the game anyway.

Stupid coaching, stupid mistakes, and simple inefficiency.

Tonight was that time that a "no bet" for me was the best bet I could have made, like folding pocket aces after the flop.

There are so many funny lines from tonights broadcast - but my favorite - I dont know why it just hit me the right way....

BTW - on the reviewed "fumble"

Here is how I saw it and I watched it on TIVO several times:

The issue was not whether it was a fumble or not.  The issue was the recovery.  The side judge clearly throws the bean bag to represent a fumble, they were not reviewing if it was a fumble or not.

On the field they called joint possession on the recovery, which goes to the offense.  They couldnt overturn that.  The announcers missed it, but if you take the time to review the play, you will see exactly what I am talking abou

It goes into the hands of a downed So.Miss player who was being touched by a Louisville player as he has possession, the louisville player is no where near psessing the ball....That happens after 2.5 seconds of possesion by the So.Miss player....


Bad call yes....You need HD with your tivo......The announcers were right, the call was bad....your tivo and non-HD Tv are wrong..............
