It is a fair point. It is interesting to see so many people on a dog
like this. But I don't think this forum is typical of the action most
books and locals are seeing on the game.
Everyone saw the national game on ESPN monday night (and if they didn't it was replayed a bunch as an "instant classic").
I would be surprised if the great majority of plays weren't on Miami.

T-REV...as I said this is the first "public dog" of the year. If you take the time (which I have) to read every week 3 thread you will see that close to 70% of the cappers here are on Georgia Tech. Yet the line has continued to rise from -4.5 to -6 in some places! If this game reaches -6.5 it is a clear indicator that Miami is the play. I took Miami at -4.5 for 1 unit and just put another unit on them at -5 making this my first 2 unit bet of the season.
The ONE thing you need when you face the triple option is time to prepare. Miami has had that and has had two weeks to concentrate on this offense.
Georgia Tech beat Clemson because of several "fluke plays" in the first quarter. As we saw for the final 3 quarters Georgia Tech is not as strong as they appear. They were shut down for three quarters and have NO ability to pass the ball. Clemson moved the ball all over the defense and I expect much of the same for the Miami offense.
Defensively Miami has the speed/athletes to cover the outside. They are poorly coached but having 2 weeks will help an idiot like Randy Shannon.
Finally we have a lower ranked team favored with the line climbing. Georgia Tech won't be able to stop the Miami passing game and will find themselves in a hole early. When you run the triple option you need to be within striking distance, otherwise you need to pass, and as we saw Nesbit in the last game...he can't throw the ball...
...and Clemson should have won if it were not for one of the biggest phantom holding calls of the season.

You make some good points, but I will still take the points. This one will be close... Nesbit wont need to throw the ball. Theyll control the clock and keep Jacory off the field...

Think San Diego St -3 at Idaho, Cal -14 at Minny, SMU -7 at Wazzu might be bigger "Traps". Even Toledo +20.5 might be a "Trap" if Ohio St somehow shows up (which i doubt).

tressel i agree with your analysis of this miami game and think miami is the side, im not sure how this is a "trap" game though. im not really big on games being traps or not traps anyways, i just pick the games the way i see them, i 100% agree that tech got the benefit of many fluke plays last week. gl on the game tonight.

JT... just for clarification... are you saying the trap was betting Miami?
i would agree this was a trap game, but because everyone liked GT, and that seemed like the "safe" play... but couldn't tell which side you were calling a trap...

incidentally, i have been doing the same thing each week... week 1 i had Troy (-6), week 2 i had UNC (-4)... week 3 my early inclination is Cincy (pk)...
someone mentioned Boise... that one has the look of a trap, a little bit, but i'm having a hard time believing it... Cincy seems more clearcut... looks easy, the way Cincy has put up points, and nobody seems to like Ore St...

Add Boise / Fresno & BYU / Florida St to the trap list.
obviously Boise would be the trap side in that game... but who are you saying is the trap in BYU/FSU? would be a good idea to specify a side... in that game, it looks like the popular play is FSU... is that what you're saying?
