I know this is a football thread but knowing you are a VT alum, you may want to look really hard at VT-3.5 tonight against UGA here in Athens. UGA will be extremely lucky to keep this game within 15 we are really bad this year.

Both Utah and Bama are ranked about the same #4 Bama  #7 Utah

For Utah a BCS bowl is a big deal  for Bama instead of playing for the Championship they are playing in the Sugar Bowl
 
All Im saying is that 10-11 points is too many. Utes have won 5 straight bowl games when they were ranked #5 in 2004 they killed #19 Pitts 35-7
 
They will show up , Im not sure that Bama will. They have to be down losing to my Gators in the SEC Championship
 
I just think Utah is great value getting DD

Yes that Denny Green rant is great, but he did not coin the phrase "You are what your record says you are."  Parcells said that at least 100 times before Green used it.

For me, the BEST SPORTS RANT EVER is by far the one made by radio announcer Mike Valenti in 2006 after his beloved Michigan State Spartans choked to Notre Dame.  You can hear it here -- it's long, but SO worth it!   I have the entire show from that day on my ipod and still play it.   I even made a song about it with samples from it, that's how much I love this.

Hey Bibendi. Been following you for about the last 4 weeks or so. Shame i only caught you here towards the tail end of the college football season. I thought i was decent at doing this, but not nearly as skilled as you are. As far as your women selection, rachel mcadams is a much finer choice than reese. Personally, i lean towards Anne Hathaway. Ha.

Landis I agree with you. I was being sarcastic about the 95. Too many people are going to cap by the season stats alone and not add in ALL the intangibles of the BOWL GAME. Meaning the Field, who they are playing, whats at stake etc. Many of these lines will be put up with the man knowing that its amateur hour just like the Super Bowl.

Bama will beat Utah in a blowout just like Georgia beat Hawaii last year, virtually a home game for Bama and Utah has played nobody worth truly noting this year their best opponents were TCU and BYU comeon. Also loving the UNDER in the national champ game, OU hasnt seen a D like Florida's all year with all that SEC speed. The Sooners's lowest scoring game this year was vs TCU which is probably the best D they have played this year. I think The Gators win this game with a score about 34-24

I'm from right across the border from Detroit and listen to sports talk from there.  Valenti is hilarious, knows his stuff even if he's a Sparty homer, but he is also very fair.  He'll call his team out when warranted as can be seen by this particular rant.  About 3 months ago, their new station they are at had the top 10 rants by Valenti on their website and they were classic.  He's volatile, that's for sure.

Bibendi, good year on the specials.  Love Troy St. in this spot and also on UConn.  Also thing CMU absolutely blows out FAU.  I'm shocked FAU is in a bowl at all.  CMU at the Motor City is money in my books.  Also see no reason why UGA doesn't destroy Sparty, just a terrible match up for MSU here.  Still looking at others myself, would like to hear your thoughts on those games.

Love UGA also but the best bets in my opinion are Bama, Texas Tech, LSU and Rutgers

Wow, MORE rants by Valenti?   Can you post me a link?   I used to post on their forums for awhile, but I guess I'm not looking for any more forums to post on at the moment.

Agreed on your game choices btw.  Though I am not convinced MSU won't show up.

Unfortunately they don't have them up on the site anymore.  They were classic.  Picture the same voice only screaming about the Lions, Tigers and Pistons with the same wit as "in the shotgun during a monsoon".  Very funny stuff.

As for Sparty, I just don't see them matching up.  Hoyer is just not a good QB, especially in a big game.  He finally showed up against the Wolverines and that is mostly because UofM is in a bad way this year.  Ringer is a good RB, overrated in my books mainly because many of his yards come on single big plays.  His YPC stat is actually worse than that if you take these single plays out.  Now, big plays are great and all, but most of them came in games against weak teams.  Where were they in the big games, namely OSU and PSU? 

I think Sparty is just happy to have beaten Michigan this year, that was their bowl game.  In fact, the leadership on the team said as much....stating....."We could lose all of our games but if we beat Michigan that is everything."  I think Ringer even said that he'd rather beat Michigan than play in a bowl game. 

With that said, they are now in the bowl and Michigan is behind them, but I go back to their big playmakers and they just aren't good enough to match up with UGA, especially Sparty offense vs. UGA defense.

I have to agree with you GoBrowns.  I guess it's more a case that I'm just not overly plussed with Georgia either.  These teams both underachieved, and are made for each other.  But GA definitely played stronger competition overall.

It's quite possible Moreno will play longer on Sundays than Ringer will.

I am with you on Georgia. I am an SEC homer though. I also like texas tech to cover the 5.5 against ole miss. So, not completely biased.

Bib - I think VT is very under valued but I think Iowa is even more under valued. Their losses came at the beginning of the year with a very young QB and in the case of the Pitt game they had their overrated QB Christiansen starting and played the majority of the game they still should have won. They have 4 losses by a total of 12 points. I think they kick the hell out of the "old ball coach".

How can anyone possibly think comparing the competition in this game is anywhere close to even. Through the ranking out - Utah loses one of those games and they fall to about 20th. Also in 2004 not only were there completely different players but they had a different coach. Who by the way is playing for a National Championship - I don't think you can compare the two.

I have to say I think Bama comes in flat and that is why I am leaning Utah. Bama was going to the Championship and now they are stuck playing, Utah. Talk about a let down after a great season. It reminds me of Oklahoma Vs Boise St. If anyone thought those teams belonged on the same field they were retarded. Peterson Vs (Freshman) Ian Johnson - hmmmm who would you want?

If Saban gets his team to show up - THEY DESTROY UTAH. I just don't think he can possibly get them up for that game. Utah - it has to almost be embarrassing.

I honestly thought that after your analysis of Florida prior to the Bama game and then how it played out, that you would be on OK.

I was on Florida but didn't everyone see that Florida's defense was getting pushed around by Bama? Sure I think Tebow and company will score 30+ against the OK defense, but I see the OK offense moving through the Florida defense without much resistance also.

Not saying Florida won't cover 3, but it is going to be a shootout. Some say Florida D will hold OK to under 30. No way!

Safest bet is over or tease OK and the over 71.5.
