Have had probably the most trying three weeks of my longtime degenerate "hobby". At the point with NIU +3 tonight where I just knew 100% there was no chance that idiot was gonna make that FG. I know it's a long game but sometimes it is just uncanny...maybe it's just me. Starting to get a little bored with the whole sordid habit.

As much fun as it is, after 20 years or so the stress and really not doing anything but watching sports to the chagrin of girlfriend, family, etc is making me at least need a break...at least until I start winning again.

Try running. It's a better high with few if any lows.

If you are in the basement and your wife is on the 2nd floor.......

    I agree.

Otherwise..........."Up there" is not your problem.

For me, it got to the point that I couldn't watch a game unless I had something riding on it.  I got over this by cutting the amount of plays I was making in half and I spent time forcing myself to watch games without any money on them.  It reminded me of life before gambling, life without point spreads.  When I was actually just an enthusiastic fan of the game and not a cynical outcast.  If it gets to the point that you're checking the offshore websites just to see the schedule of who's playing, then it's probably time to step back and get reacquainted with the game on a much more basic level.

I'm the same way couldn't care less about all these dumb games I watch...used to do all kinds of garbage and now it's just golf and gamble. Good job, girl, all that but I certainly spend way too much time and effort on this bullshit. But garbage...it is fun at times. Probably just venting even though I really do know better.

Step back and take a break.

Start playing poker if you need to feel a void. Take the time to learn it on a serious level, it will slowly make you better at sports betting and teach you money management. Almost same exact principles apply to both. If you can take a seriously sick swing and not be phased by losing then you wont be so disappointed at the end of the day.

Little by little you'll see your bankroll start to increase. Not trying to preach just saying. Hang in there bro.

Little by little you'll see your bankroll start to increase. Not trying to preach just saying. Hang in there bro.

While I am not sure your thoughts help given he seems to be trying to do less of the gambling thing. I do however completely agree with you on the poker thing, the principals in both are basically identical.

I hear ya.... pretty hard to stop. He's been going at it steadily for over 20 years. This isn't like trying to quit smoking cigarettes. Not that easy.... So I offered an alternative that can help if done the right way.

Appreciate the thoughts boys...figured there had to be some on here who at least get that "is it really worth it anymore" feeling. Maybe 38 is a good time to stop at least for a while but we all know how that goes.

You are betting too much per game and it's wiping out your bankroll ...............and now you are getting frustrated having to reload all the time.

Save up a decent size bankroll.................keep your plays from 1 -5 % of your roll and you ll be in the game for a long while IF you can stay disciplined

I triple up Sundays and Mondays like a fool.

    First off.....

Stay away from the NFL..... until u build a roll dont touch NFL.... unless you get a solid grasp of how it works, and there is almost no solid grasp but you can get a feel for it You wanna mess with the NFL go for it... lay low money lines for dogs. I'm talkin low like chump change just to get your juices flowing. If you win you win a lot more than you wager. If you lose than you lose nothing in respect to what you wagered. Get a grasp on winning first. You have un-even scoring patterns with FG and touchdowns and MOST IMPORTANTLY you have direct involvement of human referees making calls on plays that effect your bet. Defenses can score, you have to into account of special teams and most important of all these feckin teams play 1 game in 1 week, its as even as it gets ( Ik now u have thursday games etc but for the most part).... whatever...... im not gonna preach you already know dude. College football is a little easier.... not gonna get into why....

My advice is start with any other sport not football. NBA with linear scoring.... stats out the azz..... scheduling discrepencies and spot plays. MLB is just as good if not better. Hockey is solid too. Most important part is you have to do a lot of homework.

Set aside one bet that you feel comfortable making. No dopey 4 unit plays. No feckin PLAY OF THE YEAR HAMMER THIS LINE. NO BET YOUR HOUSE AND UR DAUGHTERS VIRGINITY ON THIS LINE. one bet throughout and stay with it. This is sports nothing is a lock. I wrote way to much shi more than i need to.... whatever good luck dude...... dont listen to 90% of the scrubs on here.....

    Very well put...
