In some cases as In dogs I’m looking to battle against favorites with a total Less than 156 

mi don’t want a battle against a high scoring out put team. Even though that opponent might have a bad defense or rebounding the higher totals are higher volatility. These opponents can score and if the dog is cold to start I’m stuck with a bad line. 

higher totals also could mean out dog has been scoring more than usual and could be headed backward in regression.  All of this could be in place no matter the total. I can’t eliminate everything.  The bottom line is I don’t want to stomach facing a projected total that is projecting a favorite to score. Low totals more congruent with covers in lesser conference matchups.

Also of note in most cases I don’t like searching low total games under 135 I do make exceptions in the top 25 but out side of these games 

the favorites usually has a good defense or slower pace while the offense team total isn’t projected very high. 

total are indicators for team totals and most often our team total overkill indicate if our dog can cover. 

For example Michigan -15 yesterday and the total was around 154 

that is a balanced line because if the total was +170 or more the lines makers are predicting Michigan to score 90+ well Northwestern in most cases can’t keep pace on that kind of output. 

I search numbers like this looking for a more even PROJECTED contest. Things can not be lined high or low.
