Im slamming this one. I think NOVA is one of the most overrated top 10 teams in the country.
I really hope King plays in this contest. Something about this kid but at times I think he is trying to do too much for this team. He becomes very selfish and puts a big funk offensively when he goes cold for NOVA. Even though this team is winning games right now they have done nothing to impress me that they can go into Freedom and get the job done.
This is going to be a White-out both teams are hot right now but I think we are starting to see the Pitino D kick in. It has taken longer than expected this season with new faces but they are finally buying into it and I really noticed in the UK game. Even though they got manhandled in the first half they still showed me a lot of grit to climb back in.
NOVA has not seen talented group in the paint yet this season IMO and they will get a heavy dose of it tonight. There offensive and defensive rankings on the glass is decieving and you will see why tomorrow when they get beat to death on the boards.
Here is something I love about this game though. We all know both teams love to push the pace but this only plays a bigger part of why I am putting more on this. I see no reason why LOU cannot hit 80+ tomorrow in this chaos and if that is the case LOU is 117-7 when scoring 80+. 84-5 with Pitino coaching. LOU is also 13-4 against top 25 teams in the last 3 years and are also 7-4 against top 10 teams.
I am betting on a fired up Freedom Hall that will have a white-out in full effect. This LOU team is hitting full stride right now while i strongly believe NOVA is being complacent instead of taking it to teams like they can. The reason why they are not is due to the lack of defense against better competition. If there offense is off or one of the guards has a off night this NOVA team will implode and I think we see this tonight. I expect a tight game early but the pressure D will kick in the 2nd half and LOU will take care of business. Although it would not shock me at all if NOVA puts on one of their pitiful 1st half performances and if that is the case they will pack it in early.
By the way this might be the first big week for LOU so they are in a must win situation with PITT on deck. Could be very hard for them to go into PITT and get the job done later this week. I fully expect Pitino to have the boys ready tonight.
LOU was in a big funk earlier in the season and I believe they were missing some key players in those game. Like I said though I strongly believe the new faces are finally buying into the Pitino system and if that is the case it will pay off tonight.
Like I said buddy. OU has been one tough team to cap due to the inconsistentcy. With this it being a big rival game I really expect them to step the game up to a new level on the defensive side. The cover depends highly on there D and if they can make stops in critical situations.
