Since posting totals on all NCAA basketball games the
highest posted total on a Princeton game was 129.5 in 2003-04 against Duke and
the next highest was 124 last year against VMI. Now all of a sudden we have this huge total posted on this game
tonight. There still Princeton and they still run the Princeton offense. They
are currently are sitting at #309 in the kenpom pace rankings. Probably a
little higher than where it will be at seasons end due to the amount of
up-tempo opponents they have played. Last year these same teams played and the
posted total was 117.5. I think the total is getting adjusted way to high here
solely based on a Duke game where they got blown out and a meaningless 8th place game in the Maui tournament.

TCU is as healthy as it has been in two years entering the
2007-08 season. The Horned Frogs return four starters and their top six scores
from a season ago, and a summer trip to Central America has Coach Neil
Dougherty feeling good about his team’s prospects.
”We found out a couple of things,” Dougherty said of the
August trip. ”One, we are very quick, very fast. We can get a lot of pressure
on the basketball defensively. & it’s really what I want to do play fast]
but I haven’t been able to because of a lack of depth and injuries. We have
some depth and we have some quickness. I just think we are more equipped to do
it this year.”
"Everything is going to be much more up-tempo,"
Dougherty said. "We are going to push the ball hard offensively and
pressure defensively." This will be a departure from the containment style
of defense the Horned Frog guards played as of late, he said. Dougherty said it
will mean coming after people on defense, getting in the passing lanes and
bringing a quicker pace on offense with more of a transitional style of play.
So far through four games the Frogs are averaging 79
possessions per game and 84 ppg.
The Red Raiders started out the season shooting poorly but seemed to have solved those problems as in the last two games against Gonzaga and Butler they shot 47% and 60% from the field.

The Lumberjacks lost a lot of fire power off last years team and the coach had a statement where they where going to have to win this year in lower scoring games. Last year they were one of the faster paced teams in the league and this year the style has dramatically changed as they are currently #257 in the pace rankings. In 2006-07 the Lumberjacks allowed opponents to shoot almost 50% from the field and this season opponents are shooting 42% from the fielding including games against Arizona and Kansas.
The Waves will definitely push tempo in this game however they are only shooting 38.3% from the field this season through six games. They are turnover prone and most games have been against up-tempo opponents this season. Lumberjack game totals last season averaged 164 ppg and season are averaging 136 ppg, 28 points less than they did last season.
Throw out the up-tempo opponents and against three more normal paced teams in WMU, Pacific and Long Beach the Waves are averaging 148 ppg.
