Fresh off his victory at the Australian Grand Prix, Formula 1 points leader and betting favorite in the F1 World Drivers' Championship odds, Charles Leclerc, looks to win for the third time in four races at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix.

The race is still relatively new to the circuit after debuting in 2020. Lewis Hamilton was the inaugural winner while Max Verstappen took the checkered flag last year.

Emilia Romagna Grand Prix favorites

Max Verstappen (-138)

It's been an uneven start to the campaign for Verstappen after claiming his first F1 Drivers' Championship in 2021. While he won in Saudi Arabia, he retired in Bahrain and in Melbourne. Still, the reigning champion — and winner of the 2021 edition of the Emilia Romagna GP — can't be counted out. He's the favorite ahead of Sunday's race after claiming pole in Friday's qualifying and winning Saturday's sprint race.

Charles Leclerc (+162)

Not only did Leclerc fail to win a single race in 2021, but he also only appeared on one podium, finishing second at the British Grand Prix. It's safe to say the 2022 season is a completely different story as Leclerc has emerged victorious at both the Bahrain GP and Australian GP while adding a second-place finish at the Saudi Arabian GP. He's the cream of the crop and has earned the confidence of oddsmakers and bettors alike as he leads the F1 standings with a whopping 71 points through three events. George Russell is next with 37.

Leclerc is second on the Emilia Romagna GP odds board, after he was unable to maintain his sprint race lead over Verstappen and finished second.

Carlos Sainz (+1,200)

Helping Leclerc rejuvenate Ferrari's standing in Formula 1 is teammate Carlos Sainz, who sits third in the driver standings. He has two podiums to his name this year, but, like Verstappen, was forced to retire early. Sainz blamed a steering wheel issue and was apparently livid at the result. He made up ground after a qualifying crash on Friday, finishing the sprint race in fifth.

Level with Sainz at +1,200 is Red Bull's Sergio Perez (+1,200) who, like Sainz, made up ground in the sprint race after a disappointing qualifying to start third.

Understanding F1 betting odds

The most popular way to bet on Formula 1 odds is by simply picking the winner of a particular race. Other popular F1 betting options include which car/constructor will win and whether or not a particular race car driver will end up on the podium with a Top-3 finish.

F1 race odds usually look like this:

  • Sergio Perez +1,400

This means that on a $100 bet, you'll stand to profit $1,400 if Perez wins that particular race. If one driver is especially dominant, you might see a minus sign (-) ahead of that driver's odds like this:

  • Lewis Hamilton -175

This means that you would need to bet $175 to win $100 on Hamilton winning the race.
