Against the spread (ATS) pick

The good news for Arkansas is that they return many of their players from last year. The bad news is that squad went 2-10, including 0-8 in conference play.

The Razorbacks had the worst defense and the second-worst offense in the SEC and ranked outside the Top 120 schools in the country in scoring margin at minus-17.5 ppg. While transfer quarterback Feleipe Franks should help upgrade the Arkansas attack, we have a feeling that his debut against Georgia will be one to forget.

Georgia, year in and year out, has one of the best stop-units in the nation. They allowed the second-fewest points and the fourth-fewest yards in the NCAA last season and are just as big, athletic, and talented this year despite losing a few players to graduation.

26 points is a lot to spot a program in a conference battle at home. But considering how badly the Razorbacks were blown out last year - and not just by the usual suspects like Alabama, LSU and Auburn but even schools like Mississippi State and Western Kentucky - this spread doesn't seem quite so daunting.

PREDICTION: Georgia -26 (-110)

Over/Under pick

We already discussed the UGA defense and how strong they should be, but their offense has been a work in progress for a few years. While their ground game is always great, with the Bulldogs practically building an assembly line of NFL running backs, their passing attack just can't click.

To turn things around, UGA brought in a new offensive coordinator in Todd Monkman and added transfer QB Jamie Newman who was expected to be a Heisman candidate. Unfortunately, Newman opted out a few weeks ago, which leaves the most important position on the field in the hands of either redshirt freshman D’Wan Mathis, or another transfer in JT Daniels who has yet to be fully cleared from an ACL tear he suffered at USC in 2019.

Oh, and did we mention that Georgia also has to replace four starters on their offensive line? A young quarterback plus an inexperienced group of blockers, plus a new OC equals early-season struggles for this Georgia offense.

PREDICTION: Under 51 (-110)

First Half Bet

It's always hard to swallow the massive betting lines when the top programs in college football take the field. Especially when there's a strong possibility that these elite schools will pull many of their starters once they've built a massive lead.

Case in point, last weekend when Clemson was a 50-point fave against The Citadel and had a 49-0 lead at half. They finished with that exact score which probably felt like a kick in the teeth to anyone that backed the Tigers. One way to get around bad beats like that is by wagering on the first half instead.

Last year UGA had a scoring margin of plus-8.9 points per game during the first half against FBS foes, while the Razorbacks had a brutal first-half scoring margin of minus-14.4 pp. We're even more comfortable backing UGA on the first-half than the full-game spread.

PREDICTION: First Half Georgia -14.5
