Against the spread (ATS) pick

This just in: the Ottawa Redblacks are really, really bad. The Redblacks' anemic offense finally came to life last week when quarterback Dominique Davis replaced Matt Nichols, but their defense surrendered 471 yards and 51 points en route to another crushing defeat.

Ottawa opened its season with a gritty 16-12 win against Edmonton, but they were outgained by more than 300 yards in that contest and were lucky that the Elks shot themselves in the foot.  Since then, they have lost three in a row and rank dead-last in the league in both offense and defense

Now, the Redblacks head to the West Coast to face a well-rested BC squad that comfortably defeated them two weeks ago. The Lions have been a tad inconsistent this season, but they took care of business as 4-point road favorites in Ottawa, and quarterback Michael Reilly has shown improvement in his second season with the team.

Reilly led the CFL in passing yards from 2016-2018 with Edmonton but had mixed results behind a porous offensive line in 2019. With the Lions' improved blocking giving him time to throw this year, Reilly has thrived and torched the Redblacks for 301 yards in his previous outing.

With the Redblacks 2-12 ATS in their last 14 games and the Lions 4-1 ATS in their previous five contests, don't hesitate to back the home side with the big spread.

PREDICTION: BC -8 (-110)

Over/Under pick

Davis threw for 291 yards and a pair of scores last week, which was a welcome improvement from Nichols, who averaged a pathetic 151 passing yards per game over the first three contests of the year. That said, don't expect Davis to turn this team around.

There's a reason that the 32-year-old has been a backup for much of his CFL career, and when he was given a shot at starting for Ottawa in 2019, he threw five touchdowns and 14 interceptions. The Redblacks certainly don't have the offensive weapons around him to give him much help.

As for the Lions offense, even with Reilly cooking, they haven't done a great job of finding the end zone. The Lions quarterback has thrown for over 300 yards on two occasions this season, but BC managed just 15 points in the first (against the Stamps in Week 2) while mustering a modest 24 points versus Ottawa.

BC has gone 12-2 to the Under in its last 14 games while Ottawa has gone below the total in four straight away contests. With the Under also cashing in four consecutive meetings in the head-to-head back it again on Saturday night.

PREDICTION: Under 46 (-110)
