Week 16 features a Friday night battle between the 6-7 BC Lions and 8-4 Calgary Stampeders at McMahon Stadium.
Vernon Adams Jr. will be highly motivated in his first game against his former team, and my Lions vs. Stampeders predictions expect the Calgary quarterback to lead his squad to a convincing win on home turf.
Let's dive into my CFL picks for Friday, September 19, with kickoff set for 9:30 p.m. ET on TSN.
Lions vs Stampeders prediction
My Lions vs Stampeders pick: Stampeders -4.5 (-120 at BET99)
Fresh off a Week 15 bye, the Calgary Stampeders will be chomping at the bit to rebound from their latest road loss in Edmonton.
The Stamps offense dried up in that 31-19 decision to Edmonton, but all signs point towards Vernon Adams Jr. & Co. getting back on track against the BC Lions.
Despite the Leos coming off a 38-27 win over Ottawa, their defense has been shredded over the past stretch, allowing 33.8 points per game over their last five contests.
On the season, BC is allowing opponents to post a 110.6 passer rating while converting 50.4% of the time on second down, with only Edmonton entering with a worse stop rate. To make matters worse for the Lions, top corner Garry Peters is listed as questionable with a knee injury ahead of Friday.
While Nathan Rourke and the BC offense have found traction over the past month, the Lions could also be shorthanded on that side of the ball. All-Star tackle Dejon Allen remains sidelined with a triceps injury, while starting LT Jarell Broxton, running back James Butler, and slotback Jevon Cottoy were each limited in practice this week and both carry questionable tags.
Take Calgary to pull away on Saturday at McMahon Stadium, where four of its five wins this year have come by double digits.
Lions vs Stampeders same-game parlay (SGP)
Despite BC's 7-3 ATS mark in its last 10 head-to-head meetings with Calgary, the Lions' coaching staff underwent a massive overhaul in the offseason, with head coach Rick Campbell and offensive coordinator Jordan Maksymic let go after four seasons.
Calgary has jumped out to a first quarter lead in three consecutive contests, and Adams will be highly motivated to prove his former team wrong after being benched in favor of Nathan Rourke last year.
