The Montreal Alouettes welcome the Edmonton Elks to Molson Stadium on Friday night. Early money has come in on the visitors and my Elks vs. Alouettes predictions are following the line movement.

My Elks vs Alouettes pick: Elks +4 (-140 at BET99)
The Edmonton Elks are at the bottom of the CFL standings with a 1-6 mark. That said, they've been far more competitive the last two weeks with Cody Fajardo under center. The veteran QB has completed 79.3% of his passes for 603 yards with three scores and one pick in two starts.
This will be a revenge game for Fajardo, who was named Grey Cup MVP with the Montreal Alouettes in 2023. He'll face off against the guy he was traded for, current Als pivot McLeod Bethel-Thompson, who is filling in for the injured Davis Alexander.
MBT has struggled this year, and having two of his top wideouts sidelined by injuries hasn't helped. He threw for just 126 passing yards with an interception last week, and he could have easily been picked off more than that.
The Als are just 1-3 when Bethel-Thompson starts this year. They've also dropped three of their last five games overall, with both of their wins during that span coming by fewer than 2.5 points.
Not only are the Als dealing with multiple key injuries on offense, but their secondary has also been hit with three starters on the IL. That has me backing the team with better QB play, catching the points.

While I expect Fajardo to be efficient, I doubt Edmonton will light up the scoreboard. After all, the Als are second in the league in yards allowed per pass (7.9), and yards allowed per rush (4.6) while ranking third in ppg allowed (24.0).
The Elks' defense is terrible, but Montreal doesn't have the firepower to take advantage. Keep in mind that the Als generated just 12 first downs last week and failed to get into the red zone even once.
For the Elks to cover, their defense will need to step up, and that has me backing the Under along with taking them on the spread in this SGP.
