Wings vs Dream Picks, Predictions, & Odds for Today's WNBA Game

Quiñones' prediction: With the Dallas Wings still dreaming of their first win of the season, it's the Rhyne Howard and the Atlanta Dream looking to make it a nightmare for their visitors as they stand on business to protect home court.

The Dallas Wings are still chasing their first win of the WNBA season, and things won’t get easier as they visit an Atlanta Dream squad eager to bounce back after a tough loss to Indiana.

Atlanta has every reason to come out aggressive, and our Wings vs. Dream predictions expect them to do just that — especially with Rhyne Howard driving the offense. She’s primed for a standout performance and could be the key to both a Dream win and solid betting value.

Let's get into my WNBA picks for Saturday, May 24.

Wings vs Dream predictions

My Wings vs Dream best bet: Rhyne Howard 20+ points (+118 at FanDuel)

Rhyne Howard has been in her Birkin bag since the season started. To no one's surprise, the star guard has reassumed her position as a leader for the Atlanta Dream, and she hasn't lost steam after leading the team with 24 points in an 81-76 loss to the Fever on Thursday.

Keep in mind, the Dream's lone win this season came earlier in the week against the same team in a narrow 91-90 upset win over Caitlin Clark & Co. A matchup where Howard racked in 20 points, second to Brittney Griner's 21-point performance to lead all scorers.

Howard's season opener stats were quiet — 11 points, three rebounds, and six assists — but effective enough to get the Dream near a win in another close matchup where they fell to the Mystics in a 94-90 loss. You see the pattern here? The Dream are repeatedly seeing themselves in "almost" situations where they are close to victory, but can't quite secure it.

Consider these growing pains, especially under first-year head coach Karl Smesko. This unfortunately comes with the territory, but the silver lining is that this team is clicking in ways that can translate to success, and one of those keys is the uptick of Howard's offensive contribution game by game.

With Howard finding her groove this season and facing a Dallas Wings team — who dropped two of three meetings against the Dream last season — that hasn't quite found theirs just yet, I expect Howard to top her last performance to lift her team to their second win of the season in a 20+ points showing.

Paige Bueckers pick: Dishing dimes in ATL

My best bet
Paige Bueckers to record 6+ assists (-190 at FanDuel)

My analysis
Much like from what we've seen from Paige Bueckers at UConn, if there's a will, then there's a way for her to get involved, and she will always figure it out. That approach has definitely translated to her start with the Wings, and although she's already positioned herself as the second leading scorer on the squad with an average of 13.7 ppg through the first few games of the season, she's already leading Dallas in the assists column with 6.7 per game.

Bueckers' adaptability has been one of the best parts of her game, and through the first three games of the season, she has racked up two, eight, and 10 assists in each respective matchup thus far. With her facilitator skills becoming sharper in the pros, I love the look of this 6+ assist prop this afternoon.

Wings vs Dream same-game parlay (SGP)

Rhyne Howard 20+ points

Paige Bueckers 6+ assists

Arike Ogunbowale 3+ threes

We've talked about what Rhyne Howard can do for the Dream and how Paige Bueckers can dish dimes to her teammates for the Wings, but let's get into why Arike Ogunbowale's 3-point shooting is a topic of conversation for this same-game parlay.

Now let's start with the good news. Ogunbowale reached a new career milestone against the Lynx after tying Diana Taurasi's WNBA record for the fastest player to hit 500 career 3-pointers. An accomplishment that anyone would be proud of, especially to be spoken in the same breath as one of the league's greatest players.

Let's flip the script to the not-so-good side of Ogunbowale's 3-point shooting. Her lack of efficiency is concerning. In Dallas' first three matchups of the season, Ogunbowale has gone 0-for-3, 1-for-8, and 5-for-13 from the perimeter. The confidence is there to find her rhythm beyond the arc, but at what cost? Thankfully, her threes started to connect when facing the Lynx, and this is where I feel good about her keeping that up against the Dream.
